If anything, it greatly improves it. I think a clear majority of UFC fans wanted Jones to fight DC, even Jones wanted it but Dana scheduled the Gustafsson rematch over his objections. Now a fluke injury has forced Dana to give us the fight we were really wanting.
If Jones beats DC, then OK, whatever, let him fight Gustafsson again. [Reply]

I don't think so. Gust/Jones was an awesome fight that people have been clamoring for a rematch for some time. Jones only wanted DC because he thinks it will be easier fight than Gustafsson and he might be right. I would have preferred to see Cormier/Gust fight and the winner get Jones, but they couldn't keep putting off Gustafsson any longer.
DC is still a very interesting contender, but in no way can it possibly be better. I think it's more of a step sideways which is still far from what you usually get when an injury happens for a ME fight. [Reply]

I was about to disagree, but after quickly double-checking around on fight forums I found out that you were actually right. I guess I wasn't aware of it, but it seems like most people wanted to see the rematch, though no one is disappointed at all with having DC instead.
So I guess the general consensus is that this is a step sideways as you say. Thats fine though, its an upgrade to me, so I'm happy. [Reply]
