The #Chiefs are hiring Steve Spagnuolo as their new defensive coordinator, sources say. The former #Giants DC and interim HC/#Rams HC began his NFL coaching career as an #Eagles assistant under Andy Reid. Now rejoins Big Red in KC.

Truly asking, i don't know.
It's not so much he didn't like being here. The Chiefs wanted him to take a paycut and he wouldn't. It's a pride thing to take a paycut from a different team, not your own. Totally get it from both sides. [Reply]

Sounds logical to me. Patricia/Bluto was given a few laps as HC, and if the Chiefs score back-to-back Championships, I’d bet he’s for sure at least mentioned. [Reply]

I think he definitely deserves another shot. I think he'd probably be a great HC in the right situation. I'd much rather he waited another couple years though, purely out of selfish reasons, but if he got an opportunity and he wanted to go, I could hardly blame him. [Reply]

It has been reported that Houston was unwilling to take a pay cut without getting more guaranteed money in future seasons.
The Chiefs were not interested in giving him more guaranteed money after performing sub-par on that current contract, on the wrong side of 30, and he was definitely overpaid.
So he was cut in order for the Chiefs to save money. [Reply]
