OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

The whole reason we're a different team this year is the O-line. I'll be impressed with the first pundit who actually mentions the O-line.

Much less funny this time around.
Since when do we have to post credit to the originator of a meme? It's a meme, its everywhere.

My dog Ozzy [RIP] would regularly grab birds out of the sky, . . mostly robins and songbirds, not ducks, but still.

MoF, he welcomed in 'old age' when he jumped about 6 feet up to snag a bird one day and tweaked his back on the landing. Vet told me he just pinched a nerve, but he was relatively ground-bound from then on.

Exactly. Pat went through the whole camp, played in every preseason game and has made big runs like his td vs the Browns and that first down run vs the Eagles plus he hasn't missed a day of practice thus far "but his toe is still an issue"?? If it's still not 100% then fine but he's really talking it up and trying to act like some huge "insider" like Ian Rap and Adam Schef smh.

To be fair, Mahomes is pretty good at playing through injury. In the Super Bowl, Tampa players on the sideline were caught on microphones saying "wow" over and over about Mahomes' ability to escape the pass rush...and he was doing this on a toe that required surgery. 500 yards of scrambling in that game. If we didn't know his foot was injured, a lot of people would probably assume he was actually healthy based on how well he moved around in that game.

Yes but that's the superbowl so of course he was going to play just like he did against the Bills. But he didn't have to play all the preseason games right? And he CAN have rest days from practice like many vets do if the foot was an issue yes? So that's what I'm questioning. There's been things he could do to rest his foot much more.

Those are fair points to be sure. I don't put anything past him. In college he played through injuries when he should have rested, especially in 2016 when he probably knew he was heading for NFL Draft and the Tech team had a losing record. But he kept playing through injuries instead of resting his body.

How the hell does Patrick not get AFC player of the week when he threw 5 TD’s? :-)

Joe Burrow had a nice game but really?

I actually thought Lawrence was better than Burrow in that game.

Truly it’s like he is playing in full vision and the others are blindfolded.
It was Tej Seth after he made this graph lol

since we're all looking at how quarterbacks do in pure passing situations, here's how each quarterback has done dropping back when their expected pass % is greater than 70% #nflverse pic.twitter.com/qUuyKB1spV

Does anyone have a paywall bypass for The Athletic? I wanna read this.

So Mahomes pulled a 3-wood from the bag, swung as hard as he could and watched the ball take off. It landed on the green. Mahomes sunk his putt for eagle, and as he headed for the next hole, it reinforced a creed he and tight end Travis Kelce adopted on their trips together over the years:

“Man, we didn’t come here to lay up.”

2. There is nobody like Patrick Mahomes. He plays quarterback like few have in the history of the sport.

He throws no-look passes. He spins it with his left hand. He tries weird shit. His first touchdown pass Sunday was an underhanded toss that made it look like he was bowling.

Once, at practice, he forced former Chiefs center Austin Reiter to work on taking shotgun snaps on the run. “For fun,” Reiter said. Another time, he made running back Damien Williams run routes with his eyes closed. “He really told me, ‘Run straight, put your arms out and close your eyes,'” Williams said.
