Try and follow along - Yes, the air is thin all year - However, when it's warmer - like the beginning of the season (first few weeks) - there is even less oxygen in it so the altitude has even greater effect on recovery time short term. The last thing Donko fans wanted to see...an exciting, charismatic KC gunslinger QB that is "must see" TV. There have been articles, already, with the headlines (paraphrasing) saying "Mahomes is going to save the NFL".
I know the Donks have never been on the opposite side of what this means...not only in the short term, but the long haul...but what ever makes the NFL money and improves ratings...they support. They've had Elway and Manning...I have a "hunch" Mahomes is going to draw a bigger national audience than Keesum.

I spent a week in Colorado/Utah in late July/early August and it took three days before I felt like I could breathe close to normal. Of course, I'm sixty years old and have a paralyzed left diaphragm so I'm not a good example.
Back in the days of carburetors, engines needed to be jetted differently. Outboard engines would lose 10% of their power for each 2000 feet in elevation. Increased temperature would cause another 10% loss in power. The human body is not an internal combustion engine however it does require oxygen and reducing the oxygen will have an effect. Especially if the body is not acclimated to it.
By the way, the Broncos should have been disqualified for smearing Vaseline on their uniforms and bodies.
