I know there are enough of us to participate in this thread, even when our seasons inevitably go to shit.
KSU vs Western Illinois today, tip-off at 3:00 pm.
One thing I noticed near the end of the game on Friday night - we had 5 true freshman on the court, and still played sound basketball. None of them were scrub walk-ons either. While I don't think we will make a serious run at anything this year, the foundation is being laid for a solid program in the future. [Reply]
Former Wichita East standout running back Bryce Brown intends to enroll at Kansas State and begin classes later this month.
ESPN.com reported that Brown plans to begin classes at Kansas State on Aug. 23. Brian Butler, an adviser to the Brown family, confirmed the report Wednesday night.
Brown's move to Kansas State has been rumored for weeks.
Brown was one of the nation's top recruits coming out of high school, and spent his freshman season at Tennessee. But he decided to transfer this spring after former coach Lane Kiffin left for Southern California.
Tennessee coach Derek Dooley has said he will not grant Brown his scholarship release from the Volunteers. The Brown family is trying to overturn that decision, but whatever happens will apparently have no bearing on Brown's decision to enroll at K-State.
Without a release from Tennessee, Brown will have to pay his own way for a year before being put on an athletic scholarship for the 2011 season.
Bryce Brown's older brother, Arthur Brown Jr., transferred to Kansas State from Miami (Fla.) and is sitting out this season.
I initially thought he looked a little slow... kinda had the whole Larry Johnson "gimme-a-step-or-three-to-get-going-then good-luck-bringing-me-down" style. But a few minutes in, he flashes some speed on those catches in the flats and when he sprints around the pile. He definitely shows some power, which is pretty nice.
I still think he needs to run lower; it looks like he stands straight up when running, and I think that will make him vulnerable to some big hits/injuries.
But for a freshman? These are some damn fine highlights of things to come.
I read today KSU is one of only 2 schools in the NCAA ever to have both the #1 recruit in football and basketball. Only Ohio State has had both. And we did so in a 3 year span. [Reply]

Nah, just can't believe that Josh Moore would listen to him and think that going to the NFL right now would have been a good choice.
Had Moore stayed in Manhattan, I think he would have been much higher than a 5th rounder at the end of the 2010-11 season, assuming he stay healthy throughout the season, of course. [Reply]
