The Chiefs latest dynasty run was a direct product of the Tyreek trade. Now money is tight, draft resources are slim, and the young players from Veach's great recent drafts are getting to the age to be paid so will be leaving soon. And that's aside from the glaring need for a franchise LT.
Any chance we could get back what makes it worthwhile to give him up this offseason? [Reply]
I actually don't hate it. I don't love it and wouldn’t do it because I think McDuffie is a Top 5 corner but he is not without faults as he doesn't really try to get picks. Spags and Veach if there is anything they can draft and develop it is CB. Maybe our system is just CB friendly. But if you could get a top LT out of it... [Reply]

Its just a thought. Getting top value means getting rid of something that hurts.
He'll want to get paid like one of the top guys very soon after 2 all-pros, at a position where players can fall off quickly (can, not will), and that Veach has proven can refill at minimal cost.
(Devil's advocate, McDuffie is one of my favorite players) [Reply]
If you told me I could trade 31, Trent McDuffie and 66 to move into the top 15 for a LT that we knew Andy and Veach loved, I’d do it in a heartbeat. [Reply]

He ain't.
Now -- if you want to get a little nuts, you call up Harbaugh. He has a ready replacement in Joe Alt.
Would you consider McDuffie for Slater? Would they?
But that's it. That's the end of the list. I'm not moving him for a WR. The Lions aren't moving Hutchison for him (and who knows how his leg will bounce back). I don't know how Micah would fit here and know exactly how McDuffie does.
The list is really really REALLY short. And not at all likely to go anywhere. No, I'm not moving him for draft picks and cap relief.

I have not even started looking at this year's rookie class because....it was super bowl season. The parade was wednesday. This is the first year in forever we aren't in it.
That said it appears to be a very mediocre tackle (right and left) class at best. You target a guy (like a Tunsil) and you pay the price. That's it. If there's no one in the draft and GM's are more likely to take the call of a crack addicted prostitute than Veach you target a player and you make a deal.
That's all. That's the options. There are no options in free agency. The talent is ass. You will overpay in a trade. No way around it. What price is fair for a healthy Mahomes? What price is fair to guarantee Pat finishes the season without seeing him in the fetal position? [Reply]

Sweet merciful Jesus.
You're not even trading him for a LT -- you're trading him for a chance to take the kind of LT that would go at the top of the 2nd round in most drafts.
Christ dude, you need to step away from the team for a bit. That's INSANE. I mean completely and totally batshit crazy.
This is a bad OT draft and you want to trade into a soft spot in it using the best defensive player we have AND our 1st AND high 3rd rounder? [Reply]

Exactly this. Of course I’d love to keep him. Drafting a position that will be hard to land in free agency or filling a ton of holes from the guys we leave behind… We would need a terrific haul but if someone is willing to do it, why not? [Reply]

Is there someone Reid and Veach love this year? [Reply]

That’s the one type of trade though that makes just a sliver of sense. At least there you know you’re getting reciprocated with another elite young player.
In this case, it feels like some are so worried about how we are going to go on once losing elites like Jones and Kelce, that they’re willing to trade… the one other sure elite player we’ve got?
What are we doing here? Do elite players matter or not? [Reply]

That's the thing.
The 2 bolded items cannot harmonize.
I don't care if you get the 12th overall pick for next years 7th rounder -- that 'guarantees' precisely fuck-all.
There's not a clear draft solution this year. Banks is probably the most highly regarded but he also might just be a guard. Campbell is probably the best bet to stick at LT and be genuinely good long-term but I don't think he's there at 15. He may not be there at 10.
Membou is a RT.
So you're looking at Simmons or Zabel? For McDuffie, 31 and 66?
WTF is all of this rebuild talk? Reminder: we’re on of the youngest rosters in the league.
One position group got absolutely dominated. And that’s all it takes to get blown out. The defense played fine. But we’re dealt a shit hand.
Obviously in fantasy land, you listen if it’s for a franchise LT. But McDuffie alone would be valued at the 15th pick in the draft. So attaching a first to him to get there is dumb [Reply]
