When we all saw the many replays of Kincaid not making the catch on that crazy Josh Allen pass, we equated it to the Raven's Mark Andrews drop and nothing could be farther from the truth.
Last night, no highlights really captured what happened.
Today on NFL live, the play was shown from above and it was incredibly difficult based on what happened.
Kincaid was running downfield angling towards the sidelines in a northeast direction from the line of scrimmage. As the play quickly broke down, Kincaid jammed on the breaks and in a split second surrounded by 4 Chief's defenders made a 180° turn in the opposite direction to try and catch the ball. He had almost no time to make the decision but by going back in a southwest direction, his angle to the ball was now too far forward and the ball traveled just a little further than his arms.
Was the ball catchable? Yes
Was it an easy diving catch? Hell no
Seeing the play from a drone view directly above really provided the best perspective. The ground view was too simplistic.
What I wonder is, should Kincaid have seen Allen was in trouble and/or felt the soft spot in the zone and just parked it instead of still running the route full steam?
IE - would Kelce have sat in the soft spot in that same situation?
If Kincaid did slow down instead of continuing to barrel towards the sideline, the catch would have been easy. He also adjusted to the ball super late. [Reply]
Criticizing Kincaid fits the narrative of tortured Bills fan. The narrative goes like this:
1. Josh Allen doesn’t have the necessary supporting cast for the Bills to get over the hump. (True)
2. Because Bills haven’t drafted well (True)
3. Bills fan blames GM Brandon Beane (Valid)
4. Among the disappointing draft picks is 2023 first round pick Kincaid (1100 yards sprinkled over 2 seasons)
5. BUST DRAFT PICK DROPPED AN EASY GAME WINNER!!!! [Reply]

Someone else posited that had Josh lofted it up in the general direction, deep and towards the sideline that Kincaid could have caught it unmolested. [Reply]

I guess also the wind was a factor and with all that loft it blew the ball a lot farther than Kincaid was expecting. That would explain the failure to adjust. [Reply]

You can put some curve on a football, especially a long pass.
There is no doubt the pressure caused Allen to throw off balance, thus adding a curve. [Reply]
