I watched the entire AFCCG again, and you know what non-Chris Jones player made the most plays yesterday on defense?
Justin Reid.
I am increasingly getting to the space where Justin Reid might have to be considered part of what makes this three-peating team so damn special.
He's a legit triple threat:
1. He is invaluable in the locker room. Part of the reason, we have to assume, that all of these young secondary players have developed so well is because of Reid's tutelage. He's a smart guy who is a beloved leader in the secondary, specifically namecalled by the younger players in interviews.
2. The value he brings on the field. He blitzes, he breaks for the flats, he is a smart reader on the field of offensive formations, he covers, he hits like a truck. And he's a valuable player on special teams, an edge rusher for the FG blocking unit, and an emergency kicker.
3. His position is one of need. Without him, the Chiefs have Jadyn Hicks (who we all like and see as promising) and Bryan Cook, who is probably the least-good starter on our defense right now. Chamarri Conner plays safety as well, but Conner is purely a box safety when he's played in that position. [Reply]
Reid is a very good asset, but he will likely be allowed to test free agency in hopes of getting him back at true market value, if the value makes sense.
Unless he takes a below value deal, he’s going to hit FA. [Reply]

I have a business associate who knows JR on a social basis. He 100% would agree with your take here. Talks about how friendly and humble JR is all of the time. [Reply]
Ive loved Reid over Mathieu! There's really no comparison. Reid is an excellent player whereas Mathieu made business decisions. Reid is built like a true safety. Mathieu was not! [Reply]
