Ian Rapoport:

Help is on the way for the playoff-bound #Chiefs, as WR Hollywood Brown (SC joint) has an appointment in Week 15 with his surgeon for final clearance, sources say, one that likely allows him to play in Week 16 or 17.

Imagine.

Reports say he has a meeting with his surgeon for final clearance during week 15 so he won’t practice until that point

Semi-interesting scenario: let’s say he comes back week 17. Plays that game. We lock up the 1 seed and rest starters week 18.

Do you give Hollywood reps with the backups in that Broncos game to continue to knock off the rust or shut him down with the rest until the Divisional Round?

I don’t think it gets talked about anywhere near enough, both on this board or in the media, how insane it is what Mahomes has had to endure this season. Both starting WRs and starting RB missed most of the year, and we have the worst LT play in football. His go to guy is over the hill, and his best WR is in his mid 30s and was a midseason addition. Josh Allen loses his weapons for a week and the talking heads are slobbering all over his junk for winning, yet Mahomes gets lambasted for his *career low* numbers and an 11-1 record.

Honestly, I hope Hollywood and Humphries come in and totally change the way Mahomes is playing, and they just go scorched Earth on everyone in their paths. I know that’s unlikely since they have very little time to gel, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Andy and Pat.

DJ, Pop, and Hollywood should take every snap they can down the stretch. Coaches need to know what they’ve got before the playoffs.

I would think taking reps with Wentz isn't worth the risk.

We need to fix our LT first which we have a solution for.

But a WR would be huge, especially one like Hollywood. Even if they don’t have chemistry right now I think it’ll be better than Mahomes’ chemistry with worthy. As much as many of Mahomes’ throws are off it just doesn’t look like he trusts worthy to hit a particular spot. I think there was one misfire Friday where Mahomes threw deep but worthy flattened his route. That’s not a knock on worthy, it’s just inexperience. One of the knocks on mahomes, if you can even call it that, is he gets a little rattled when WRs don’t do what they’re supposed to.

What we need most isn’t an Mvs boom/bust option. We need a speed guy to hit the intermediate routes often. Worthy’s picking that up but Hollywood is a better option. And then worthy can become a way better blend of Mvs and mecole.

It's just self-flagellation at this point, but I'm still stuck on trying to imagine what this offense would have looked like had we not lost Hollywood, Rashee, and Pacheco while receiving straight average play from Wanya/Kingsley at left tackle while watching Noah Gray progress into the bigger receiving threat he's becoming, and STILL pulling the trade for DHop.

Nothing comes easy in this league, and yet here we are with 11 wins at the beginning of December.

Fantastic post. Mahomes is on a trajectory to have one of his worst statistical seasons in his career, and yet it may end up being his best overall season to date given all he's had to work with/around/against. It won't be acknowledged as it should be due to Chiefs fatigue around the league's talking head, but it's absolutely the truth.

Yeah this would be a great add against man coverage

This is why people shouldn’t freak out about the offense. Explosion and a hopeful average LT are coming in.

Kareem Hunts longest run this year was 17 yards. Pacheco had a 34 yard run in his first game back.

You’re kidding yourself if you think Humphries and Hollywood aren’t dramatic upgrades over Wanya and J Watson.

These guys make a big difference. The offense could look absolutely lethal by the playoffs.
