Media Center>I am learning to hate CBS. You?
HemiEd 06:56 AM 11-11-2024
It started when CBS pulled from Dish and Direct TV so we were unable to watch the Chiefs games on Dish. At the time, Satellite TV was the shit, much like cable was 30 years ago.

Screw the viewer, CBS had an agenda!

The way I saw it, they were doing this to drive people to their streaming. I ended up putting up three antennas, one is dedicated to the FireTv recast box that htismaqe had recommended.

This year, it is my opinion, the local CBS station is reducing their broadcast strength from Springfield during the games. We will get a perfect picture all week from each of the antennas, even for pregame, then at game time, the picture either disappears totally or is crappy, forcing us to watch the game on Paramount.

Then the latest from them, last evening the FireTv recast guide had no information about the CBS evening programming, none, just said unavailable, so I was unable to set it to record Yellowstone!

Our Paramount didn't show anything past season one for Yellowstone being available, and even that was for purchase. Only Peacock was showing streaming of Yellowstone. But the local CBS station was broadcasting it after Tracker.

Is CBS out to get us?

Yep, KOLR 10 is owned by Mission Broadcasting company.

Mission Broadcasting, Inc. is a television station group that owns 29 full-power television stations in 26 markets in the United States.

And I'm sure you've already tried this, but you might consider deleting and reinstalling the apps. Kind of a hail Mary but it's a thought.
I can try unplugging the stick, which seems to unfuck it a bit.

That sucks. I haven't had any of those issues. What platform are you using the app on?

We recently got a new one and they have really improved. Mine was getting hot and had to be reset often. The new one is incredible, lightning fast etc.

Oddly enough...my issue is not with Paramount+, but with the local signal here in the Jacksonville area. Most of my watching of the major network TV shows comes from streaming it on their platforms... (P+, Peacock, ).....for some reason I get the Fox and ABC stations clearly but can't get the signal to stay for CBS and NBC.

I have the cable package right now, but mostly because I want my football to be unfettered and to keep my wife happy for the Hallmark Movie channels here at Christmas time. Once the new year comes and football ends, I am back to streaming only.

Is your antenna directional and amplified?

All three are directional. Two are in the attic and the one hooked up to the Firetv recast box is on a pole outside. The biggest one in the attic is dedicated to my Tv and the other one is on a splitter to the guest bedrooms.

OOOps, sorry, just noticed you might have been talking to Mosbonian.

I am in one of those HOA neighborhoods where they don't allow an outside antenna save for a Dish or DirecTV one....and all of the new "inside the house" antennas are doing nothing to help the signal.

I have even tried the amplifier for the inside antenna's and they don't do crap.

It was the first app we ever got on our TV back in the day because my wife wanted to watch the good wife. I only watched Paramount + for Star Trek stuff. I do like the Tulsa King and the Lioness shows. They are very well made. But, of all the streaming apps, its my least favorite besides Peacock+.

Unless you're within a relatively short distance from the signal source, indoor antennas are a waste of money.

They're all wonky but Peacock's app is a well-oiled machine compared to Paramount and Hulu.

It might not be worth the hassle for you to fight this out, but according to this link, they can't legally do that. I've heard other people say the same thing.

EDIT TO ADD: I live in a condo complex and have the same restrictions and I just haven't felt like "fighting the fight."

I'm a little puzzled by some of these comments because I simply am not having issues with my apps on the ROKU at all. Granted some of them have better interfaces than others (although I've noticed a tendency for them to copy one another in that regard.) I've not had any issues with Paramount+ recently, maybe in the beginning, and I see no difference in performance and others, including Peacock.

I still suspect some of these issues stems from the streaming device itself. Because I have had trouble with Fire TV and the apps that are built into my LG tv are shitty and I've long since abandoned using them for ROKU.

I am all Roku here. What I'm talking about is shit like you're 50 episodes into a series and all of a sudden, the app just forgets that you watched them and resets to season 1, episode 1.

It's not about performance. It's just glitchy interfaces. Netflix, for example, is slow but flawless. Peacock's interface is slow as hell and half the time graphics don't load all the way. Paramount is the worst though. Scrambled watch lists and the like.

Interesting. I haven't had that issue. At least not recently. Now that i think about it, when I first started with Paramount+ I think I had some similar issues. But even then it often seemed to be related to specific shows (I had issues trying to stream the original Frasier for example) But I haven't had any issues in a long time. However in fairness, I don't use P+ as much anymore since I gave up on Star Trek. In fact it just renewed for a year and even though they gave me a deal, I probably should have just cancelled it.
