Nzoner's Game Room>Do We Really Want To Go Undefeated?
Easy 6 03:27 PM Yesterday
Can't wait to get crushed for this opinion, but it just feels like asking for an undefeated season while chasing a threepeat is bad juju... its asking for too much IMO

I'd much rather we lose a game or two just to keep everyone frosty, to remind them that yes they can be beaten if they're not playing their best ball... look no further than the Patriots undefeated season to see what can happen when a team sniffs too many of its own farts

I don't want to meet Detroit in the Super Bowl with our heads in the clouds

Maybe I'm just being superstitious, maybe not... what say you?

Okay there are many saying our vet leaders are too seasoned to lose focus, and its easy to appreciate that sentiment

But again, the undefeated Patriots had tons of experienced and still hungry leadership... just saying I'd rather sacrifice 2-3 games to keep everyone on their toes/slightly pissed off, in pursuit of the trifecta

Detroit is going to be a damn monster, Hutchinson or not

An undefeated season while winning a third SB in a row is probably something that will NEVER be repeated.

It would likely be an accomplishment that would be in the conversation for “biggest achievement in sports history”

I mean, sure it would be great to get both, just not sure how realistic it is.

And as others have already said, if we have the #1 seed locked up already going into Denver game, zero chance Mahomes, Kelce, Hopkins, Jones and a few others play (along with sitting any other starters who might have minor nagging injuries). This is the Andy way. He's done it before, he'll do it again.

Going undefeated isn't the goal. If it happens, great. But it's just the symptom of a great team rather than the cause.

Staying firmly in control of the bye is far more important, which does require continuing to win, though.

I agree that would be soooo cool to experience. But, my concern is by trying to get both. We try for an undefeated season and the 3peat we might end up not getting neither.

I wanted to be a podiatrist, but I got off on the wrong foot.

A few thoughts:

1. I understand the sentiment, it’s not the worst thing for our motivation to lose 1 or 2 games before the playoffs and get our losses out of the way.

2. If we don’t 3-peat, an undefeated season would be a nice consolation prize.

3. Imagine going undefeated AND winning the 3-peats, good lord!

4. If we do go undefeated AND win the 3-peat, will the talking heads call this the best team ever? Hmm… not sure this our best squad in the last 5 years talent-wise, but those accolades speak volumes.

No.

I want us to start 13-0, sit every starter for the Christmas game to piss off the opposing fanbases and the NFL, and rest starters one more game (either week 17 and 18).

If we had better injury luck this season, chasing an undefeated season would be more fun. This three games in ten days part has me worried about the team's health.

Why not try for both?

It would be nice to go undefeated but the goal is a SB win. I see no reason to deviate from the past few seasons. Relatively vanilla during the regular season then break out the stuff they have been practicing all season long but haven't shown during the post-season.

Going 19-1 while starting 16-0 and conceding a game is more impressive than going 17-0.

Thanks.

Because of injuries and a brutal schedule.

I haven't thought about it. It's really hard to go undefeated in any real sport. Odds are we'll drop a game at some point. Probably to a team we have no business losing to, like CAR. I just hope it's not going to be because someone irreplaceable gets hurt.
