Sources: The #Jets were informed before acquiring Haason Reddick that his contract needed to be addressed. They made an offer prior to the trade with Philly, which Reddick turned down.
I'm pretty sure Schultz's sources are mostly players, and considering that conflicts with what we've heard, I'm assuming Reddick is his source. [Reply]
Guys that break out late tend to have short primes.
I wouldn't be eager to give him the sort of contract he's looking for at all. Frankly, his 2023 was a step back from his 2022. He's almost certainly peaked already.
And as a guy who's something of a one-trick pass rush specialist, I just don't know how long he's going to last. Even a guy like Jerry Hughes, who had a hell of a long career as a 3rd down rusher, was awfully limited for 80% of his career.
I just don't think he's as good as he thinks he is. [Reply]

If he sits completely out, yes. He has to be with the team enough games to count as a league year. In the past I thought that meant showing up by like Week 10 or something. [Reply]
The #Jets were informed by Haason Reddick’s representation that he would report and play under his current contract. That, obviously, has not happened.
They let Reddick know they were open to adjusting his current deal (converting non-guaranteed to GTD), but only when he showed… pic.twitter.com/b0TFDEDDTn
I mean, I'm no contract expert, but it sounds like he has to play this season; he doesn't seem to have any leverage here. Also sounds like his agent spoke for him without his permission or gave Reddick some bad advice?
Regardless, I don't really see any other option for him other than to take the Jet's offer and play the season. At least that way he gets paid in 2024. [Reply]
Well, then Reddick has little to no leverage here. I never understood why the Jets didn't re-sign Huff?! He is younger and the cap hit would've been within range of what Reddick makes. Jets played themselves. [Reply]
Not a need here we have Karlaftis and FAU cost-controlled and I expected FAU to break out if he gets playing time soon plus we paid Omenihu and Danna. [Reply]

Our focus will remain on the guys we have here as we prepare for the regular season.” We’re going to go out on a limb and assume this statement won’t be received too well by Reddick and his camp.
