Winning the tournament makes you the NCAA champion. If the Associated Press or NABC thought it was appropriate they could have declared KU the best team.
As I'm sure you know, the 1922 and 1923 banners were pre NCAA tournament and the Helm's foundation in 1943 retroactively awarded national titles going back to the 1919/1920 season. [Reply]
