Finally saw A Quiet Place. Very good movie. The first 20-30 minutes are a bit slow and takes a bit of adjusting to the near silence that lasts throughout 99% of the movie. But in the end it was really enjoyable. [Reply]
just got out of Sicario 2 and holy shit, if you liked the 1st one, this one will be right up your alley (it focuses more on Del Toro's character since Emily Blunt isn't in it). Probably my favorite film of the year so far and definitely a worthy sequel . Highly recommend seeing this one this theaters. [Reply]

Just saw it. It was a step or so under the first one, most sequels are like that, but I definitely still enjoyed it. Brolin and Del Toro both are fantastic in it.

The two parts that dropped it down for me were when Cathleen Keener's character orders Del Toro to be executed (they would never wipe an asset with his abilities and the relationship he had with Matt), and then when Alejandro not only survives getting shot through the face, but makes it back to America wounded like that after being disavowed and no support. Still, really, really good, though.

They did, however, really capture the innocence of toddlers. Kids can just laugh and be happy as hell while they destroy your entire existence. That stuff is really hard to capture in animation.

Overall I enjoyed it, but the whole movie I had this mental image.

Why did he put the tracker in the girls shoe? He didn't have a way of tracking that did he? He knew the Americans would be able to track it though. That was the reason he had it. Or maybe I am misunderstanding. I also wondered why everyone in Mexico wanted the girl dead? She was the daughter of a crime lord right? I would think she would be valuable to anyone and everyone.

As for the girl, I thought the same - they would ransom her. But that pack of criminals were animals and not particularly smart, so maybe they didn't care about any of that. Just have their way with her then kill her, or some such.

But he knew Matt was trying to eliminate her at that point. That was why he was trying to cross the border with her without him. That part just seemed a little meh to me. Matt only decided at the end there not to eliminate her.
The First Purge is a steaming pile of shit. Like holding a machine sideways, junkies know karate bad. I wasn't expecting anything more than 1.5 hours of violence but even that was super lame. It's only redeeming quality is seeing Lex Scott Davis. [Reply]
anyone seen this? This trailer just gets increasingly awesome as it progresses! I'm all over this once i find an outlet to watch it. I'm not sure if it's even out yet.
