Nzoner's Game Room>The Bills take the AFC this seasom
JustDíqLix 05:53 PM 08-21-2023
Are you ready for some football!?

I know I am!

With that, I am here to make a proclamation!

The mighty Bills from Buffalo will take the AFC this year.

For two decades I watched people say the Patriots window was closed, that their time was dwindling, that it was all over… seemingly every time those predictions happened, the Patriots went and won another Super Bowl.

A lot of doom talk simply because we lost to the Bengals in the playoffs. Let us not forget that the Bills watched their brother DIE on the field just a few weeks prior. Their heart was simply not in it. If it had been, the Bills would have captured the AFC last year.

The Bills have won 2 of their last 3 in Arrowhead and they’re ready to make it 3 of the last 4.

Let’s go mighty Buffalo Bills! 🦬 🦬 🦬

Read the thread. Those guys are completely out of their ****ing minds.
Reminds me of all the people who swore Peyton Manning & Aaron Rodgers were better than Tom Brady. And I am sure there were Miami/Denver fans saying that type of stuff about Marino & Elway compared to Joe Montana.

Josh Allen is extremely talented. But the thing with Mahomes is that he’s extremely talented in his own right, despite the fact Buffalo people try to downplay it as if he’s a scrub. Mahomes is every bit as talented as Aaron Rodgers or Dan Marino, but he wins like Brady & Montana whereas Rodgers & Marino didn’t win at that level.

Everyone's ****ed. I legit think Mahomes may get to 7 now.
Who knows. Brady went 10 years between Ring 3 and Ring 4. Gives solid perspective on how hard it is to win titles. I would love to see a couple more rings over the next 10 years to get past Montana & Bradshaw, but it will be extremely difficult to get there.

He's probably got 10 or 11 elite years left.

Out of those 11 elite years he probably goes to 4 Superbowls, then he should win at least 2.

Andy will probably coach until he's 70 or until medical issues pop up, he should win 1 more with him and then win another with a different coach.

He can and will get more than 4.

OK, but why?

05 - complete shit defense, Brady couldn't be carried anymore
06 - got Manning'd
07 - got Spagsed
08 - got ACL'd
09 - Brady shat his pants against Baltimore
10 - Brady shat his pants against the Jets
11 - got Spagsed
12 - Brady shat his pants against Baltimore
13 - Brady shat his pants against Denver

Of the things on this list, I can only see one happening to Mahomes, and that's losing to a Hall of Fame QB.

Playoff Mahomes isn't going to have a shit defense anytime soon, and no DC is going to shut him down like Brady was.

Injury is a possibility, but again Mahomes never gets hurt bad enough that he can't play at extremely high levels, it seems.

Mahomes is better than Brady. He will not have a 10-year drought. I can see an occasional pants-shitting, but not an absolute shit ton like Brady had.

Brady is the luckiest dude ever. Tuck Rule, Dee Ford, Pete Carroll on the goal line, and so forth. But Brady had a 10 year drought in the absolute prime of his career. Very hard to win rings in this league.

When the 1990’s Cowboys won their 3rd ring in just 4 seasons, I am sure their fans never expected a 30 year drought in that moment. It is amazing the Chiefs have been able to win 3 rings the last 5 seasons, but who knows what might happen moving forward. I don’t take any of it for granted.

The Cowboys had a coaching change and massive injury problems with Aikman, plus the salary cap era.

The Chiefs are dealing with a lot less issues than previous dynasties did right now.

Something catastrophic will need to happen to Mahomes, like what happened to Montana after 1984. And even then he was able to regain his previous form by 87.

My cousin works with the tv crew at FOX, he said Aikman told him that he still cant believe they won the 3rd one with all the off the field problems they were dealing with that season.

KC won by razor thin margins against the Bengals & Eagles last year. It happened again this year against Buffalo & San Fran. If the Niners play clean football on special teams, they probably win the game. 8 point swing on special teams mistakes.

It’s extremely hard to win and these Playoff games feel like a coin toss for the most part. Patrick & his teammates have to be as healthy as possible, which is a major question every year. The AFC is absolutely stacked with very talented QB’s. I think Houston will be a legit challenger in the future. The Chargers will be a much better team with Harbaugh than they were with Staley. Burrow & Cincy will continue to be tough to beat. Josh Allen & Buffalo will continue to be hard to beat. On top of this we will always see at least one team every year like the current Niners featuring a QB on a super cheap rookie contract.

It's because Favre was immature and the Steelers were weak.

The Chiefs might have fucked up that Cowboys team.

It took THREE interceptions, including a pick six, for them to score 27 points.

They had 250 yards.

Dallas never adapted their style of play or brought in enough talent for a longer run of success.

The Chiefs did that last year.

Peyton Manning had a much better argument, an actual one at that, that he was better than Brady for many years, with its merits having various ups and downs over the years while he was still playing. Allen literally has not a single argument or point in his favor to warrant the discussion.

Interesting. You are pretty high on those Cowboy teams too, Clayster.

For five years they were the cock of the walk.

But after that it was over. That's why they got fucked up by the 98 Chiefs.

The way Veach and Mahomes and Reid operate, we have a chance to duplicate what Dallas did. Six rings in 10 years sounds about right.

The relative weakness of the AFC is a good comp, too.

Lamar smells a lot like Randall Cunningham, and Allen is Favre, who could never get past Dallas.

Funny thing is Josh Allen has outplayed Peyton Manning in the Playoffs by a pretty large margin. Mahomes has also outplayed Manning by a pretty large margin as well. Manning was carried by his defense to both of his rings.

Peyton Manning in the Playoffs:
2006 ring: 70/158 passer rating with 3 TD and 7 INT in the playoffs
2015 ring: 75/158 passer rating with 2 TD and 1 INT in the playoffs
P-Manning Playoff career: 87/158 passer rating with 40 TD and 25 INT

Meanwhile...

Mahomes Playoff career: 106/158 passer rating with 41 TD and 8 INT
Josh Allen Playoff career: 100/158 passer rating with 21 TD and 4 INT

This does not even factor in the rushing ability of both Mahomes & Josh Allen. Patrick was responsible for 50% of the Chiefs rushing yards in the Super Bowl the other day, including those huge runs on 4th down and 3rd down in the game-winning drive. Many other playoff games where Patrick's legs were a big part of helping the Chiefs offense. Josh Allen's legs are a major part of Buffalo's rushing attack through the years. Peyton Manning was a total statue compared to those 2 guys.
