Felix Anudike-Uzomah was drafted with pick 31 of round 1 in the 2023 draft class. He scored a 8.73 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 209 out of 1634 DE from 1987 to 2023. https://t.co/maz03OdBwqpic.twitter.com/xoMJ9ki2Pv
The moment Clark Hunt announced his team's selection of Felix Anudike-Uzomah. You simply cannot script it any better. KC native, Kansas State Wildcat and now a Kansas City Chief. The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year is going home.@fanudike@KStateFB@Chiefs Video: ABC pic.twitter.com/yxNFMeVQqP

Dude was the Big 12 defensive player of the year and had 89 pressures over his last two seasons. His RAS was like top 100 or so in the last 25 years.
He was absolutely going to be drafted right around where he was. He didn’t go earlier than projected. [Reply]
I'm naturally excited because I'm a K-State guy, so I actually was trying to harness that last night and view it through a neutral or even negative lens.
After some sleep, I'm realizing that that any negative feelings I had last night were more about how shitty the board was to us, and nothing about this player. That's worn off.
Now, keeping a neutral lens on this player, and there's so many things I love (aside from his alma mater):
- He's only 21
- He's still physically growing and will only get bigger/stronger, which has been a trend he's been on for the past 3 years.
- He played in less-than-ideal position (inside) often in a 3-4 front at K-State, and still produced pressures and sacks despite being the primary focus for the offense.
- I have seen him wreck a game, Derrick Thomas style. He had 6 sacks in a game to set the NFL record, but because he so violently hit the QB, the QB actually fumbled the ball forward on two of them, and so they took the sack stat away. Absurd, but yeah.
The only thing I remember being grumpy about when watching games the last two years was that sometimes he would disappear. I think a lot of that was the opposing offense scheming him out of the picture, doubling him, etc...
If he does it right, with Jones being the primary focus, I think the kid has Tamba Hali floor and Justin Houston upside in the next couple years. I'm not saying he'll get 22 sacks a year, but I think he's going to be a bad mf'er that they're gonna have to deal with. [Reply]

For all of the guys that wanted McDonald....dude never could gain weight like FAU did over his college career. [Reply]
So there hasn't been a TON of talk about it and I remember hearing the idea of it somewhere but how long does Spags have left? And if he is starting to work his way out of the coaching world, could Cullen be next in line and starting to work in some of his type of players? [Reply]

Bottom line for me is that we are better at that position than we were last season. Even if he doesn't set the world on fire he's gong to be solid and I'll bet money he doesn't get arrested for having an uzi in plain sight. [Reply]

Gotcha...Most every site I checked had him going in the 2nd. A couple had him 3rd. None had him 1st. :-)
