Been watching him do that stuff since he was a true freshman in 2014. It’s probably a good thing that he didn’t start playing QB until much later than many kids of similar age. He didn’t go to a million QB camps where all the QBs turn into robots. His coaches at every level have been smart to let him use his natural abilities instead of coaching all this stuff out of his game. Very special natural playmaker.

Kyle Brandt describes Patrick Mahomes as a ‘Teflon Football Jesus’

“It’s a really rare thing — not only ‘these days’ but this year — in which there’s almost nothing but positivity and respect for the Kansas City Chiefs,” he told us. “There’s just none of that, ‘Everybody hates everything now — and everyone — and everything sucks and everyone’s the worst person of all time.’ And yet, ‘Yeah, Patrick Mahomes! He seems like a great guy! And Andy Reid! What a great story! The Chiefs! What a great franchise!’ There’s almost no disdain. It’s not tainted right now.

“Don’t get me wrong: it will. It will get there.” he assured us. “Keep winning, and everyone will hate you. But right now, it’s not just that Mahomes is a great player and throws no-look passes and stuff. It’s like he has this 100% approval rating as a human being. Everyone just raves about him.

“I’ve said this before: that he’s kind of the perfect superstar for this generation, in that he’s a little different. He looks a little different. He’s got different hair. He throws a little different. He sounds a little different. This is a guy who was raised in pro sports, who has a mixed-race background, who appeals to a million different people of different [demographics] and different backgrounds — and different ethnicities, even. And, you know, he signs 500 million bucks and he’s like, ‘Yeah, whatever. I’m, like, back in the gym.’

“He seems he’s like this ‘Teflon Football Jesus’ that can make every throw — and get every approval vote. It’s really incredible.”

As we were with the Madden cover.

I don't know, Mahomes has just shattered those conventions so far. Hope it continues.

That's a shitty comparison. Jesus never won us a Superbowl.

That’s true, but people forget He had a pretty talented team. Some called them miraculous. They treated Jesus like He could walk on water. He and His team always defied expectations and beat the odds. He was one of a kind. His team was rolling along feasting and then they got nailed for 12 men on the field. One of their players was immediately ejected from the team and they also had to pay a fine (30 pieces of silver). His team stayed up all night game planning for the big game and then they were blindsided by a suspension from the governing authorities. It looked like it was all coming to an end. Heck, even His own team turned on Him. All was looking lost and Jesus was left for dead, but then something happened that no one expected. He mounted the greatest comeback of all time! People couldn’t believe it. They were shocked. Even His own team couldn’t believe what He did. Eventually, they all came around and realized Jesus was like none other. He rose to the ocassion in a way no one ever had. So much so that people still talk about it to this day!

You’re right, he never did win a Super Bowl, but He still came out on top.

Andy Reid can't win the big one. Unless his QB is Patrick Mahomes.

Chiefs can't win a home playoff game. Unless they're QB'd by Patrick Mahomes.

No athlete can beat the Madden curse. Unless that athlete is Patrick Mahomes.

No athlete should be able to dislocate his kneecap such that it's on the side of his goddamn leg and then walk around 10-15 minutes later and play football three weeks later. Unless that is Patrick Mahomes' kneecap.

Take your "jinx" and rape it in the mouth. It doesn't fucking exist.

Big difference though is Jesus never existed, Patrick Mahomes does and is better than you could ever credibly script.

Mahomes is great and all, but I should point out that the Chiefs have won the Super Bowl in every year that Rashad Fenton has been on the team. Even Mahomes can't say that.
