Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

I love it when internet posters claim to know what multiple front offices, scouts, GM's coaches etc...have believed and made all decision based off since 1983. [Reply]

The track record of the organization speaks for itself. [Reply]

I think we're talking about the Blackledge curse itself, although you raise a very good point about 1960 - 1979.
Carl had 19 years, and the only thing approaching a long-term franchise QB in that entire period was Trent Green for 6 seasons. The rest of the lot were 2-3 year "attempts" to pick off backups from other rosters hoping to strike it rich.
Pioli was a nepotistic douchebag who thought he could outsmart the entire league by going in with Cassel even when it was abundantly clear the guy just didn't have it. But I think of that more as arrogance than I do fear.
Carl was LEGITIMATELY afraid of rookie QBs. He said so himself how he didn't like developing QBs. I don't know if the NFL will ever see another GM like Carl again who could go so fucking long without making a big draft decision on a QB. That's how historically awful he is. [Reply]
