Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

Gruden mentioned that it might take Mahomes 3 or 3 and half years to be ready.
Whatever the case, Mahomes won't see the field in 2017 and IMO, it's unlikely that we see him before the 8th game of the 2018 season. He's a True Junior and is only 21 years old.
Gruden also mentioned that for the first time ever, Mahomes won't be splitting his Spring with baseball and football, which is a good thing for him. But the playbook is extensive and he has a long, long, long way to go before he's ready to effectively lead an NFL team. [Reply]

Why 8 games in 2018? That's an interesting perspective.
What would those 8 weeks matter when he has 16 months to learn the playbook and an entire season to learn the game? [Reply]
I'm willing to wait for Mahomes to play as long as Andy sees fit-- but I highly, highly doubt it is beyond the start of 2018. If it is, it either means Alex had a much better season than normal, or Pat's development is going slower than they'd hope. [Reply]

No shit, Sherlock.
How's it feel hearing Gruden, the guy who thinks Mahomes is the best prospect in this draft, say that Mahomes is multiple years from starting?
That must have put things into perspective for you.
Why people argue with me on what are obvious things is beyond me. [Reply]

This is why I don't want to rush the kid.

I wonder how many people are going to admit that TigerUppercut was right all along. You know, cause I've only been right for the last 3 years but people still can't seem to figure it out. [Reply]

:-)
Favre is so overrated. Nowhere near the talent or consistency of cool joe, Young, Brady, Manning, Brees [Reply]

There was no realization for me about anything, dumbass. F**k you.
Gruden also said in the interview it could be a year. He also said on draft night that it WOULD be a year.
The two things that I said would need to happen for Mahomes to not be the starter in 2018 (Alex being really good or Mahomes' development being slow), are REALLY UNLIKELY. Especially the one that involves Alex Smith being better than his average ass self. [Reply]

How can you be right about an event that has not happened yet?
So far everything, including Gruden's projections and timetables- are just opinions. Too many variables for you to be up on your soapbox patting yourself on the back.
If two years crawl by and Alex is still here while 2 PM is riding the pine- please start a thread and proclaim yourself the Greatest Football Prognosticator of All Time. I will post this :-) for you!! [Reply]

Right? Like when you said Dorsey would be stupid to draft a QB in the first rd this year? [Reply]
