This right here is the only thing I'm concerned about right now.
I am not worried about a Mahomes and Andy offense in the playoffs until they show us reasons to. Especially with the reinforcements coming at LT, WR, and RB.
But the defense... I dunno. It's reminding me a LOT of 2022 right now when it seemed like they couldn't get stops in those Nov/Dec games if their season depended on it. And really, they couldn't in SB LVII either.
We are putting a lot of eggs in the Charles Omenihu post-ACL basket to be a hero. I think Nazeeh's better than he generally gets credit for, but this defense can't play man coverage with any consistency right now and they can't get pressure when playing soft zone. [Reply]

Yeah I'm feeling the same. Offense I'm pretty confident with, even with the dodgy OT play. The defense, man, it's a tougher one. I think our secondary with Sneed and Watson did a lot of heavy lifting for our DL. You can get away with a ponderous/non-existant pass rush when the secondary is sticky and gives you time. Now we're asking the DL to win quickly and it can't.
I've got a bit of hope Uche gets worked in and Omenihu comes back balling. [Reply]

I guess the bright side is that 2022 team still would’ve won the Super Bowl if not for an inexplicable Mahomes AFCCG collapse. Confident they beat the Rams if they get there.
This team also has a significantly better run defense than that one. At least, this team can make the opponent pretty one dimensional. [Reply]

Well I'm referring to the 2022 team that won the SB against Philly boss
But yes, the 2021 defense was much the same. Little worse. [Reply]

Every week he's on the sideline by himself with his face scrunched up clearly not having fun. But fans can't talk about that and discuss how he and the offense can improve without you guys acting like all of this is some kind of strategy and Mahomes is purposefully playing below his standards in the regular season.
Both sides are stupid.
This is just in!!! People who are the best at what they do set high standards for themselves and their teammates!

Is Joshua Williams THAT bad? Because Nazeeh ain't it.
Man, Williams was looking like a gangly and uncoordinated doofus in coverage at times last year.
Nazeeh has been giving up catches, but he hasn’t really been responsible for broken coverage or missing tackles.
I know it’s painful to see him let all these plays happen and never reward us with turnovers or other big plays to offset the bad, but it just is what it is. I’m not sure Josh Williams can even do that [Reply]
Look if Josh Williams was so much better, he'd be playing.
He isn't.
Our best hope is that Johnson gets this season of starter reps under his belt and can improve as the season goes along, and get to a point where he doesn't have a flashing neon bullseye on his back saying "Throw Here". [Reply]
Anyone who doesn’t think the defense is concerning is either not paying attention or willfully refusing to acknowledge the problem. Maybe Omenihu and Uche are able to boost the pash rush significantly or maybe not. Aside from McDuffie the secondary isn’t good enough to cover even for another split second absent a pass rush. This is big problem. Spags deserves the benefit of the doubt, and perhaps he can get things fixed. But to me it seems that the issue is a lack of talent and ability and unlikely to be fixed. As a result the margin of error for this team is even thinner. Let’s hope that a healthy Pacheco/Hunt backfield along with possibly getting Hollywood back takes some pressure off the defense. [Reply]

The way I see it the defense can def be better but wout Watson - nothing drastic. So the offense has got to become elite for us to win it all.
When SB comes, if Chiefs get there, it's more than likely going to be Lions or Eagles. I don't have confidence in our D being able to stop either offense under 30. So again, the offense has to keep getting better as Mahomes himself has said. [Reply]

Pretty valid.
Luckily both those NFC teams have suffered major injuries at edge rusher this year and hopefully that will keep them from hammering our tackles too badly. [Reply]
