I was in Captiva at the time. It made landfall about 36 hours after we left, though we changed our flights to leave a day early. But there was definitely nothing close to this kind of chaos. We were surprised how nonchalant everyone was. I’m wondering why this one has produced so much more panic than that one, but I guess the damage that one did could be a factor.

My 80 year old aunt lives alone in Winterhaven near Orlando. I texted her on Monday and she said "I'm going to bat(ten) down the hatches" She said she hoped it would weaken by the time it gets to her. I just texted her and she responded the rain had stopped and was waiting for the hurricane. Worried about trees falling and was going to sleep in the hallway :-)

I drove into FL once down 75 while a hurricane was coming in. All the traffic was going the other way.
