Ah the Kirk and Nick year.
Duke wasn't that great in 2003, beat them in the S16. Just before winning a nail-biter against Arizona (who obliterated us in Allen Fieldhouse earlier in the year) [Reply]

I remember Collison's epic game against Texas that year and of course the Final Four games... Duke and Arizona don't stick out for whatever reason though... well, besides that I'm now old and those guys are now like 40. [Reply]

I was actually at both of those games.....Hinrich hurt his ankle earlier in the tournament and only scored 2 against Duke, but Collison had 33.
Against Arizona, Hinrich had 28, and Collison had 8.
Was SO nice seeing Bill Walton and the rest of the UA fans eat crap at the end of that game...... [Reply]

I forgot about that ankle injury, for some reason I thought that was what led to the too-close-for-comfort 1/16 game against Holy Cross in 2002.
Amazing to think that the 2003 team lost Gooden/Boschee/Simien from 2002, plus Hinrich to an ankle for a chunk of the tournament, and still were missed free throws away from a title. [Reply]

Lol my dad always calls me a fake fan because I wasn’t dedicated enough to be born a year earlier. I have to remind him that he had more to do with that than I did. [Reply]
