Contreras bother was called for catchers interference 2x in one game against the Dodgers last year, the hitter both times, JD Martinez.

Now there is something in this lesson about knowing who the batter is and their tendencies as well right?

That swing was so bad I literally lol'd. Just DFA the mother****er already. Either his hand eye coordination or bat speed is so far off he is way outmatched at the plate right now. Though my guess is its about 80% mental 20% age related. He just cant wrap his head around the age related adjustments he needs to make.

Watches a meatball down the middle, swings at a ball that would have hit a left handed batter.

not sure what's going on with Paul Goldschmidt pic.twitter.com/Vrq50p5Oav

The evidence being his foot behind the white chalk of the left handed batters box from a camera angle behind home plate? Interesting. If the idiot who tried to play detective bothered to take the still frame from after the swing when Martinez's foot is pivoting, you can see white chalk where he was planted, or just bother to look at how the front of the boxes line up from that angle and realize the left side box sits farther forward than the right side.

I kept hearing from the BFIB how Brandon Crawford's veteran leadership was going to help the team. Anyone know when that's supposed to start?

God almighty - ABs don't get any worse than that. The first swing just looked like someone who can't see the ball. Wow.

Thats not 1 AB though is it? 2 different pitchers and 2 different runners at 2B.

Ah - you're right. The first pitch was from #52; next two from 0.

In either event, guy's just not seeing the ball at all (though if that pitch from 52 was a 3rd strike, it might explain why he looked so defensive; that seemed like a really odd swing for a no strike count).

I think he's just guessing. If his eyes are shot and he's not telling anyone, he knows he's not picking the ball up so he's just guess hitting and hoping to get a mistake.

Guys have had solid careers as guess hitters - some get pretty good at it. But it doesn't seem likely that Goldschmidt is gonna be that guy.

Looked it up. That was strike 1 and the first pitch of the AB. Lopez (#52) struck out 1 batter, that batter being Goldschmidt. He blew him away with a 97 MPH fastball in the low and away corner.

Watch Goldschmidt suck ass for 3 months, get traded to the Astros for a used scratch off, and then go on to hit 150 wRC+ for them and bring them back into play contention.

They're going to lose 100 games this year. This is the worst Cardinal team of my life.

I'm seeing quotes on Twitter from cardinal fans about Dewitt III press conference or interview. Must have been really bad, the fans need to come even if we suck or else we can never get better? Anyone got the interview? Also Mozeliak must have talked today too

One guy on Twitter summed them up

Posting some Bill DeWitt/John Mozeliak rules for correct fandom of the #StLCards. Feel free to add.
1. Check your brain at the door.
2. Never, ever, criticize the front office or ownership.
3. Attend games even if the product is dogshit.
4. Spend big $ at BPV.

Most of the guys I see on Twitter are actually becoming fairly critical. At least the headlines are, I don’t actually read their fucking articles

Is there no other media in St. Louis calling out the team for letting this team get to rock bottom, this may not even be rock bottom yet.

From Bernie:
Offensively the Cardinals are Bob Uecker, a .200 career hitter in the majors. But that isn’t a fair comparison because Uecker is 90 years old and he’s calling Brewers games from upstairs in his radio booth at American Family Field. That said, the beloved “Mr. Baseball” couldn’t hit any worse than Dylan Carlson.
