They've gotta gashed vs the run for years because they have to play with more small guys on the field to cover the pass. Maybe this can change that. [Reply]
Watching that first video in the OP, and this kid got better and better as he progressed through college. His closing speed is absurd and will spook QB's to the point that even if he doesn't get home, he'll disrupt the play. I especially hope it's productive on a now older, possibly less slippery Russel Wilson.
Also hoping he can ring Allen & Herbert's bell a time or two. [Reply]

I think Chenal plays a tick slower than he timed, I think Bolton plays a tick faster than he timed.
I don't think that's an unfair comparison. At least at this stage of the game. I think Chenal has more upside as a Sam than Bolton would because I do think Chenal can do more damage as a rusher and eventually be better in coverage.
But I think calling him a taller Bolton coming out of college is plenty fair. Probably even setting the bar a little too high. Bolton was a pretty rare bird in terms of football savvy. [Reply]

Obviously Gay, Bolton and Chenal are locks.
That leaves Carter, Harris, Lee, Calhoun....and the UDFAs that we brought in.
Five guys max?
I would think so.
Especially when they're going to have to keep 9 DBs to even keep Williams on the roster. Watson would have to displace Baker to even make the team. I don't think its impossible but it seems pretty damn unlikely.
I guess only have 4 NFL caliber WRs eases the roster pressure somewhat. Lord, Fountain and Gordon are actually going to be in a fight for the 5th spot on the WR depth chart. Blech.
I think you can count on 50 spots that are probably set in stone.
Probably 10 OL with that alignment. Probably 10 DL after you add a veteran DE. That gets you to 52. So you're looking at a 4th HB (5th RB), 6th WR (probable STs ace) or 6th LB (also STs).
I just can't see them carrying 10 DBs or 3 QBs. If I'm betting it's 6 WRs with Gordon being WR5 and Fountain being more of a dedicated gunner. None of the rest of those WRs are likely coverage unit guys so it seems likely that we carry 6 WRs. I just don't care for anyone past the first 4, let alone tossing a couple more JAGs on the pile. Not sure we'll hit 4 TEs to start the season. Fortson will probably be on the PUP list. So you could give his spot to an extra LB and let that sort itself out in the first 6 weeks.
And Fountain probably beats out Gordon. He's the new Kemp. [Reply]

Yeah, I think Fountain makes the team. Like I said - none of the rest of the room is going to be on coverage units so he's gonna make the squad as a gunner.
But I could see them keeping 6 WRs to make sure they have the dedicated Gunner AND a potential 5th WR. Especially with Gordon ostensibly being the biggest, most physical guy we have who could theoretically be a target in the red zone (but in reality probably just sucks).
Still feel like we should've come out of this draft with 2 DL and 2 WRs. [Reply]

Yeah, I would have liked to see them throw some more money at a guy like Kevin Austin as an UDFA. He's got the ability....just hasn't shown it yet. That's the guy you bring in and see if you can unlock it. [Reply]

This on WR depth.
Not sure why, with all his flaws, we didn’t re-sign Robinson. [Reply]
