If one of them has a big year, Denver will have the cap space next year to tag and trade.
Elway doesn’t even want to give Ray a 5th year option. He isn’t franchising one of them. And if he does, that’s great news bc Roby, Veldheer and Paradis are FA’s as well.

Denver is going to have to pay up next year or start over at key positions.

Good thing the Chiefs don’t have to do this until 2021 bc their QB is on a rookie contract.

They should go ahead and extend Ray now at a cheaper price. If he’s healthy he’ll have a good year

They'd never tag Veldheer and Elway has a history of getting deals done with RFA's like Paradis. Roby is the guy that could be a problem to get signed without the tag.

Why would Roby be tough to sign?

How much do you pay a third edge rusher? Denver obviously thinks $9M is too much, and I don't see Ray accepting a deal less than that w/o testing the market first.

I just haven't heard anything about Denver trying to get a deal done early with him. It seems like Denver wants to see how he reacts to being a full-time starter before they commit. If they do that, it could be tough to get a deal done with him next offseason without the tag.

He hasn’t shown to be a full time player, and if he has a decent year he won’t be that expensive

Denver can have its pressure and sacks. It just won't make as much difference as it has in the past against the Chiefs. We no longer have a QB that folds when he sees a defender breaking through the line. Sometimes it seems like Mahomes excels when a play starts to break down.

Sure, Denver will get some sacks, but 2nd or 3rd and long isn't as scary as it used to be. Where I used to give up on a series after a false start or a sack backs them up, Mahomes has shown the ability to still convert.

In the Denver game he dug us out of two 3rd & 8s, a 3rd & 10 and a 3rd & 14. And then there's the 2nd & 17 during the final drive which was the result of, you guess it, a sack. He didn't convert that, but made it into a very manageable 3rd & short.

Sorry, but the big, bad Denver front 7 just isn't as scary when you have a guy who can make plays while eluding pressure.

It's going to be fun watching the meltdown in Denver when Keesum does what all backups do - completely shits his pants.

Even more fun will be watching the fans who know he's not good enough to go anywhere argue with the fans who think he is. :-)
