I should clarify that I'm not saying that the movie itself looks like it will be bad, just that we appear to be getting sucked into a glut of genre movies that, in the long run, will gloss over the merits of one film or another in the incredulity over the sheer volume of similar films being churned out.

But on a more serious note, why is this needed? And why is it coming so soon on the heels of that Brian Cox disaster?

This wasn't even a MONTH ago

This is worse than the era of copycat volcano and asteroid movies back in the 1990s.

Is this all just fallout from the popularity of The Queen and whatever that 'Our King Stutters on the Radio' movie was called.
Didn't see the Cox movie. But Oldman's a hell of a lot better actor than Cox.

And I enjoyed both The Queen and The King's Speech.

I've noticed that too. I don't watch a lot of movies so the overabundance of ones in this genre won't effect the entertainment value for me.

Looks good, I like historical based movies as long as they stay to the actual story for the most part.

Churchill was key to Britain at the time and an unlikely figure to lead them in those terrible days of Germany taking over Europe with a military force very dominating.

I'd rather have a glut of intelligent period pieces than Spiderman The Reboot Part 10 or Cars To Robots Part 20.

I'll bet he spent 8-10 hours a day getting the makeup applied/removed, on top of the time he spent shooting. That must have been miserable.

I finally wrapped up the Indiana Jones series with The Last Crusade. It's a shame they never made any more of them!

I probably liked Raiders better but this one was pretty good too.

So I got an hour into Full Metal Jacket and had to turn it off. Is there any story or narrative I'm supposed to be following? Character I'm supposed to care about?

Right about the time you shut it off, it pivoted pretty dramatically. It's probably worth finishing.

Yes, thankfully that was the last in the series. Yes...that's it.

Yeah I just read that the second half is a complete flip from the first half. I'll finish it sometime this week.

And Fate of the Furious was the worst entertaining movie I've ever seen. At first I thought they had toned down the bullshit from furious 7...I was so wrong. I don't even think transformers is this insulting to it's audience.
