Bama and UGA were going to the NYE6 either way. Only thing it could do is slightly boost Ole Miss's argument that they have better losses. Their 'Bama loss is now clearly better than our LSU loss, though it really already was.
What if both aren't in the college football playoffs? Wouldn't that effect the possible bowls we could get in? [Reply]
So, if you’re a Mizzou fan watching this Florida State game, who do you root for?
On one hand, if FSU wins, they likely stay in the playoff, probably Texas gets in as the 4th and that puts 2 SEC teams (Bama & Georgia) in NY6 bowls (non-playoff). Would the non playoff bowls really take 3 SEC teams, with the 3rd being Mizzou?
On the other hand, if Louisville beats Florida State, Louisville is guaranteed a NY6 bowl and likely leaps Mizzou, and FSU maybe still also gets a NY6 bowl even though not in playoff?
As a Mizzou fan watching this game, I’m not sure who to root for. :-) [Reply]
Louisville is going to the Orange Bowl regardless win or loss. ACC has tie in that their highest rated non-playoff team goes there. ACC team will play the highest rated SEC or Big Ten team. [Reply]

Okay. So assuming playoff is 1. Michigan 2. Washington 3. FSU 4. Texas (due to H2H win over Bama), likely Louisville vs. Bama in the Orange Bowl. (Yikes. Talk about a mismatch)
Peach Bowl will take Georgia, undoubtedly.
So that leaves two possible landing spots for Mizzou. Either Fiesta or Cotton.
Mizzou vs. Penn State in Fiesta? Seen that as a possibility.
Could see Mizzou in Cotton too (history there), but not sure who opponent would be? [Reply]
Totally messed up if they keep Florida State out of the playoffs just because their starting QB is out. You know we'd be pissed if we were in that exact situation. You cannot punish a team, because of an injury.
I think the playoffs should be
#1 Michigan
#2 Washington
#3 Florida State
#4 Alabama
I think Alabama gets in over Texas, even though they lost H2H, for a couple of reasons.
1. The win was so long ago. It was the 2nd game of the season and before the teams got to ramp up.
2. Bama has 11 straight wins now, including the SEC championship game.
3. Bama had a bit tougher overall schedule than Texas. Bama's opponents went 98-61 and Texas's opponents went 91-67. Bama also played 4 opponents ranked in the top 13, including the #1 team and went 3-1. Texas played 3 top 25 teams (#8, #12, #19) and went 2-1. The rankings are from the college football playoffs rankings and will obviously change and more than likely #19 OK State drops out of the top 25, so that puts Texas at just 2 games in the top 25 rankings at the end of the year.
This is how I think the rankings will go. This isn't what I would do. Quite frankly I don't know what I'd do. [Reply]
