I was really rooting for him to be a diamond in the rough, but nah, he isn't up to it. I don't actually think he's too bad at sticking with guys, but he's so easily bullied at the catch point it makes no difference.
Maybe he could revert to safety and show something, especially FS as he obviously has speed...but right now I'm praying for Watson's return. [Reply]

He fits the profile? 200 lbs, 16 bench reps, 4.38 40, 1.52 10 yard split, versatile in college?
I get he didn’t work out but he’s exactly what you aim for in the 7th rd?
Not sure why so many people seem to be pissed. Dude was the 4th to last pick in the entire draft and they gave him a shot for a month then promptly benched him.
It happens. But again Roland-Wallace looks pretty decent and he was an UDRFA so we ended up finding someone in the end. [Reply]
Is it all that surprising that once we saw Johnson and Conner on the field again, the secondary looked like shit?
I don't know that there's no place for them in the league (well, I think we might be getting there with Johnson) but if you have one of those guys on the field, your entire coverage scheme is going to be centered around trying to hide that guy.
If you have BOTH of those guys on the field, you're just boned. You can't hide 2 guys who are that bad at locating the ball and have that little feel for space.
Those 2 are just lousy and they are doubly lousy when they play together.
I think Roland Wallace and Hicks have probably passed them both on the depth chart. And it needed to happen.
It blows my mind that we played about a half-dozen games this year with those 2 guys at CB2 and Nickel. And WON them. [Reply]

I think with Chamarri he's just bein played out of position out of necessity. He's a safety that we asked to play Nickel corner this year and just prayed it would work out [Reply]
Shame, too. I remember the hype over him in camp before he got injured a couple of seasons ago. Sounded like Spags thought he was the real deal then. [Reply]

He had a massive fan club who'd seen him take maybe a dozen snaps and had decided based on camp hype that he was a guy who makes letting Sneed go doable.
Some folks never learn.
I guess 'massive fan club' isn't entirely accurate -- it was a small fan club that just seemed to revere the dude. I won't name names, but you couldn't get through a DB conversation this off-season without the same handful of guys saying "and we have Nazeeh Johnson coming back and the staff loved him..."
If they haven't done it, lets not assume they will. [Reply]

I think both need to go back to their natural position they played in college, safety. Let Reed go and go with…
I still think you can get a lot of value out of Conner as the box safety in a big dime look. He's not a nickel corner, but he's fast and physical and can give you some good snaps as your third safety in a dime look (as long as you aren't asking him to be your primary deep safety guy).
But yeah, he's not Sneed. And that's OK.
Johnson stinks at CB. I'd be willing to see how he handles FS again, though. [Reply]
This guy played 50% of the snaps yesterday and Joshua Williams had ZERO. Love spags but what is his obsession with this guy? He's given up several touchdowns and big plays and literally had to get pulled off the field against the Raiders because he was so bad. Josh comes in and the secondary improves immediately. Nazeeh then got consistently roasted against Denver and is rewarded with playing big snaps in the playoffs? What's the reason for this bs and why is he prepared to ignore the mistakes Johnson has been making all year? It's maddening to me. [Reply]

Let’s just hope Watson can play 100% of the snaps next week [Reply]

Noticed that too, all is well since we dominated on D, but if they put him out there against Buffalo/Baltimore it will get taken advantage of in a huge way. Williams must be banging Spags’ niece or something, because it really makes zero sense and is downright head scratching. [Reply]

But I'd really like to know what got Williams in the doghouse.
It's completely bizarre.
I think Williams had a special teams penalty at some point but he very clearly wasn't any part of the defensive gameplan today.
This team's fascination with Johnson is just flat fucking wrong. I don't know what else to say man. Watsons return taking Williams off the field instead of Johnson greatly undermines the value of that return.
