Deshaun Watson has decided he wants to play for the Cleveland Browns in a stunning change of events, per sources. Watson has informed the Houston Texans that he now is willing to waive the no-trade clause in his contract to be dealt to Cleveland.

You are throwing the "sexual predator" term around pretty loosely. There is zero evidence Watson is that. [Reply]
Deshaun Watson to reporters in Cleveland: “I understand these allegations are serious. I never assaulted any woman. I've never disrespected any woman. I was raised to be genuine and to respect everyone around me….
“I’ve never done the things that these people are alleging.”
There are documented texts that he's sent apologizing for making an alleged victim feel uncomfortable. Dude knows he fucked up at least somewhat. Pretty dumb to say that publicly. [Reply]

Yeah, that's either really brave or really stupid. Gonna be messed up if this new grand jury decides to indict. [Reply]

Letting them continue to linger, and eventually going to a civil trial with discovery? Pretty sure Watson doesn’t want that.
I wonder if settling would immediately land him in trouble with the league? Seems punishing someone for a civil suit is a little extreme but with Goodell, who knows. [Reply]
That press conference was extremely embarrassing for the Browns franchise. I am not sure how you could not conclude that they simply don't care about the allegations. They won't say what they did to look into them. They say that they were thorough, even though some of the accusers have nothing on record yet. They won't say that they think he's innocent, only that they "believe in" him "as a person". The entire thing was them reciting legalese that amounted to "we don't care".
Someone posted elsewhere that Watson's contract is structured so that his salary this year is only $1 million, to minimize his financial losses if he is suspended this year.
I just want a talking head on tv to have the nerve to say:
"Okay, so DeShaun Watson thought every mobile massage therapist during the pandemic was a sex worker he paid to play with his pee pee. Is that as bad as PacMan Jones making it rain in a strip club? [Reply]
