They list price evaluations which I doubt are accurate and NIL isn't really like NFL free agency it seems to take a long fucking times. Also Nebraska had 2 of the best o-linemen flip after other schools offered more. It's hard to tell who has the most NIL other than A&M and it seems like OU does really well in the portal too [Reply]
Man the veil has been lifted on college sports. We REALLY gonna pretend like this money wasn't getting to these guys before this?
I really don't have a problem with the NIL stuff - I think it's a good development. But the NIL combined with the free transfer stuff just makes college sports kinda gross. [Reply]

Teams will be playing in non-CFP bowl games without half of their rosters since everyone has already entered into the transfer portal.
Just bring back the 'year off' rule. With the lax rules on the redshirt years now, most players with high ceilings can reserve that redshirt season. Blue chip guys leave after their third year anyway. Gives them A freshman season to see how things are going and if they're genuinely unhappy (rather than just chasing the bag) the transfer is easy enough - they burn a redshirt during their transfer out season then show up as a redshirt sophomore at their new school. Now they have a full season at the new school and if things go well, they can still go pro on the same timeline.
If they don't, hell they could transfer AGAIN and have a Senior season, but they they'd better be awfully sure they want to leave at that point. 2/3 of this year's Power 5 Quarterbacks were transfers. About 70% of the top 50 QB signings over the last 5 years have transferred at some point. Teams are cutting bait on young QBs rather than developing them because some bag-man will just grab a successful QB from a smaller school and force their developmental guy off the roster.
It's the hopping that makes things so transactional. And again, it's not just on the players - the schools are facilitating it and frankly they kinda HAVE to do it. Worse, every season/off-season becomes a re-recruitment period of their own guys.
I just really pretty much hate everything about it. Every player is essentially a free agent every off-season. Pro sports would NEVER do anything like that; it feels completely untenable. It's fucking chaos. [Reply]

Yeah, in theory I should like it as a KU fan for CBB, but it becomes like you're just rooting for the jersey.... similar to what I notice in the NBA (not that I pay that much attention to it).
And in college, it just makes a mess of recruiting like you said in your 2nd post, and for CFB teams that aren't Bama or Georgia or Ohio State just become the Royals of CFB, developing players for the big spenders. [Reply]

LOL you know corn isn't ever gonna get a good qb ever again bill. Just accept it. Your best bet is Rhule getting a kid Leipold had some interest in but ultimately rejects. [Reply]
Sources: Arkansas is vetting hiring former head coach Bobby Petrino as the school's next offensive coordinator. Petrino has indicated in the recruiting space that he's in the mix for an SEC coordinator job.
