IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Yeah, before Mahomes I was a big believer in correct body mechanics and footwork dictated throwing accuracy, particularly downfield. It was one of the reasons I wasn't initially very high on Mahomes when he was drafted. The crazy footwork and off-platform throws made me cringe.

But now I've completely accepted the fact that Pat doesn't need to use proper footwork or have traditional body mechanics to make throws accurately.

Just like I don't care anymore when he throws across his body, or off his back foot, or across the field against the grain of the defense. His talent and arm strength negate all of those aphorisms.

I’ve seen a lot of old Favre highlights recently and tbh his decision making was SO much worse even in his late 30s than Mahomes’ has ever been. Also I don’t think his arm was quite as electric as Pat’s.

Mahomes was just misfiring down the field. this isn't even including throws where he and the receivers looked to be on a different page (which happened 4-5 times as well).

He normally sticks at least a couple of these throws, and that drastically altered the results. pic.twitter.com/03XxQn3Fro

Mahomes does not misfire! It is always the receiver's fault! LALALALALLALALALAAA I can't hear you

Did you not listen to what he said? Pat told you exactly what his thought process was. He didn't say anything about not running at all or throwing it away.

Every other coverage I have seen on this mentioned how football smart and aware Mahomes is except in this thread by King.

He has very natural accuracy. Pure talent. Only people that watch him up close on a weekly basis would realize it. The stuff in the 2017 Draft was a bunch of BS. But from the KC perspective, the BS media narratives allowed the Chiefs to get him for a serious discount at #10 compared to #1.

You can be extremely smart and aware and still make a bad play/bad decision once in a while.

Seriously, pretend it wasn't Mahomes. Is it a good decision to quit on a play or do less than you can because you THINK a flag might be on your team?
