If we upgrade our receiver core substantially before the deadline then you are correct.

We just can't sit on our hands.

WRs are dropping like flies. If the Chiefs are going to make a move, they should do it soon.

Does Veach value the 3peat or future seasons more. That's the question. If he values the 3peat then he won't mind trading a high pick on players such as WR for this season. If he chooses not to then he values the draft and next year more.

But shit, if they'll take Skyy back in the deal to offset the cost (and they'll get another year of team control out of him), it might just work.
That’s an interesting perspective. That actually is a great deal for Cleveland because next year they’re gonna want a lot of cheap warm bodies. Skyy is adequate enough for a team that will want to run the ball all the time and isn’t motivated to win right now. That extra year of control is huge

I highly doubt the best GM in football is doing nothing.

They can take care of both if they trade for Diontae Johnson. They can extend him now or in the offseason. You’d rather use a pick on a player like that than on someone like Demarcus Robinson who isn’t in your future plans. Better investment for now and the future.

Isn’t that due to the Chiefs issues at WR’s?

The fact the Chiefs are so limited on offense with Mahomes is not optimal.

I'm coming around to the thought that last year may have just completely mind fucked Pat. He's just a tick late from an anticipation standpoint and won't just let it rip. I don't know that it matters what you do until that gets fixed.

Revised Belichick Model:

Bills give 91 (136 pts) and a 2026 7th (1 point) for a total value of 137 points.

Chiefs can beat that 2 ways fairly easily -- 96 (116) and 168 (24.2) for a total of 140 OR Titans pick at 68 (250) and the Browns give us 104 (-86) for a total of 164.

Some prefer the Rich Hill model and that's easier still:

Bills give 91 (44 pts) and the 7th (1) for 45 total. Chiefs can beat that with 96 (39) and 168 (9) for 48 total. Or the Chiefs give up 68 (73) and 168 (9) for the Browns 104 (33) for 49 total.

In both scenarios the Browns would get an 'additional' 7th rounder of Buffalo's offers. And that's under a worst case scenario sort of analysis for them where we win the Super Bowl. And that's about a 30% shot by the rosiest of predictions.

Yes, we could've pretty easily beaten the Buffalo offer and by enough to make it worthwhile. If the Browns insisted on getting a 2026 7th rounder in that deal with Buffalo, then the surplus value of a 2025 early 7th clearly has value to them.

We could've beaten it without getting screwed in the deal.

We elected not to.

Alternatively, it could be a liability. It's guaranteed money and I don't think he belongs on an NFL roster. They might prefer nothing to Skyy Moore.

I would.

Hardman is the insurance, which honestly is a higher ceiling than Robinson anyway. He’ll get more run like he did SF.

I’m very confident that Hollywood will be back for the playoffs. I expect him to start practicing in mid December.
Hollywood is just like Juju. He could come back in December and hobble off on the first play. The dude is made of glass. Getting him back would be a bonus but they can't rely on him as their #1 WR.

You know what's really funny?

The Bears will STILL be getting picks from Carolina next season in that disastrous Williams trade. They have Carolina's 2nd rounder next year and it would be miraculous if that thing's not sitting at 33.

God almighty, that deal's gonna end up looking Herschel Walker bad if the Bears ever unfuck themselves and get a real HC.

Great reason to trade us D Johnson.

So let's do Carolina a favor and give them a 3rd rounder plus Skyy Moore in return for Johnson. That's a 3rd round pick and a guy who was a 2nd rounder, in exchange for an unhappy WR in Johnson who won't be in Carolina long-term anyway.

What's not to like about that trade if you're Carolina?

Maybe they just didn't want Cooper that badly. Maybe they're working on some other trade and need those picks to do it. Again, the 2 best fits for this team are still out there.
