Year Two of the Matt Quatraro tenure. Time to take a step up this year. Active in free agency and trades this offseason. A new look pitching rotation and bullpen. Will the young players take the leap up offensively? Bobby Witt extension? New stadium? Will Vinny recover from injury? Salvy taking aim at the Royals record book? Will Cole Ragans turn into the best Royals starting pitcher since Greinke 1.0?

Just got moved out to Charleston. This is my fault. They’ve lost every game since I got in the car.
In the old format this (obviously) would have killed any chance at the playoffs. But we aren’t in the old format, so they’re just going to have to keep plugging away the leaks with whatever corks they can find. Stop this streak and put together a .500 stretch to bring home a WC spot.
10 days ago we were all talking about how Cleveland was circling the drain. Now, they’re kinda on the right track with some breathing room.
Where KC is getting a little fortunate is that Boston HAS reinforcements that could help them a lot and for some reason isn't using them.
Anthony and Campbell could come up and provide them a pretty big boost almost immediately. Both guys are locked in in AAA right now and can likely carry that hot streak through September.
They're not guys that are likely to give you 150 games of premier play at the moment (20 and 22 respectively) but both guys can come up in the middle of a hot streak and play damn good baseball.
But Boston's keeping them buried. They're making a mistake. The Royals don't really have ready reinforcements to use but it's not hurting them because their direct competition in Boston HAS those reinforcements but isn't using them. [Reply]

Watch out for the Tigers, they are getting hot [Reply]

Yeah, I don't think there is anyway they continue to play this bad. Sometimes baseball happens and we're just having a bad stretch at one of the worst times. Hopefully having this happen now will keep it from happening in the playoffs. [Reply]
So I'm not sure about tie breakers and everything, but it'll be hard for the Tigers or Red Sox to end with more wins then us.
Here's some possible finishes and what those two teams would need to do to surpass our win totals over our final 22 games(Sox and Tigers have 23 left).

What a season it’s been…. Lose 7 in a row with 4 weeks left, you’d likely be screwed. Nope. Still firmly there for a wild card spot.
Haven’t had much luck at all the whole season, and it’s really been a pretty shit 2+ weeks for bad luck with Renfroe, Lorenzen and especially Vinnie going down. Schedule did us no favors either all year.
Yet, here we still are. 21 games left, and nobody seems to want the last wild card. Fuck it if we get it while limping to the finish line, that’s a helluva lot more than 99% of the world would have imagined back in April.
