but....I have a few questions.
Coochie...can you please explain your comment? Whatchoo talking bout Willis?
also...
Spoiler!
at the end...I get that she was trying to get back to "her house" or "her world"...which would be pretty much impossible...like winning the lottery. so she apparently SETTLED on the last one right? everyone seemed happy and shit hadn't hit the fan yet so I GUESS she said...I'm sticking with this one? so she had to get rid of her other self. RIGHT? it is this part of the story that threw me a little bit.
also....and I get that this isn't really important...but I had to rewind the bathrrom battle and ring switch scene as I didn't understand it because she already had a ring on....and then it showed her take the ring off of the unconscious her and put it on. then later the boyfriend finds another ring...so I ASSUMED hers had fallen off during the struggle....but they certainly didn't make that clear.
**** IT! **** THAT!
I got a little more than halfway thru reading this before deciding....you know what...**** IT!
I don't want to know anymore about this ****ing movie! :-)
I give....the ****....UP!
damn man.....
PS - I may watch it again though. hahahaha [Reply]

more interesting the second time thru. you start realizing a buncha stuff you missed the first time.
like...
Spoiler!
right at the very beginning Laurie, a huge fan of Roswell, doesn't recognize Mike as the star of the show...and Mike barely remembers Laurie asking who? and then thinks she used to do yoga. so right at the beginning...they already aren't who they are supposed to be! also, the second time around I understood the significance of the glass being broken when they came back to the house.
the end though....hmmm....why was she CALLING? where was she? she obviously didn't disappear into another reality. why didn't she just wake up and alert everybody to the fake her? nit picky I know. had to end somehow.
A lot to recommend it, but it kind of fizzles out at the end.
It's vintage Shane Black, if you like vintage Shane Black. Excellent use of violence [if you see it or are familiar with Shane, you know what I mean].
Worth a rental or watch on streaming. I can see where people called it an overlooked gem. But I can also see why it was overlooked. It's offbeat to begin with, and like I said it kind of fizzles it's promise overall. Don't take that as a severe rebuke, more of a 'aww, this could have been even more.'
It has one of the funniest bits of physical comedy in the scene referenced in spoilers below. Also, has a great homage to classic physical comedy, again spoilered.
Spoiler!
Funniest - the bathroom scene where Crowe and Gosling first meet back up after Crowe broke Gosling's arm. Great physical comedy from Gosling trying to juggle covering his dick with a magazine, open the stall door and get his gun with one arm in a cast.
Homage - 'drunk' Gosling channeling Lou Costello's stuttering exclamations when he finds himself sitting next to a dead body in the woods.
TCM was doing a series of James Garner movies this weekend and I caught Hour of the Gun and The Great Escape.
Hour of the Gun was excellent. It is basically an earlier version of Tombstone. Jason Robards just kills the part of Doc Holliday. Highly recommend this one.
The Great Escape was enjoyable but felt a bit overlong. Also, Steve McQueen's part felt completely shoehorned in. It was like he was in a different movie. Still, the movie made me read up on the actual escape, which was pretty interesting. [Reply]
Saw Don't Breathe on Saturday. Really a very well done suspense thriller. The tension is built throughout effectively. Also utilized some well-timed jump scares. [Reply]
Has anyone seen In the Heart of the Sea? Is it worth watching? I love period ocean based movies so even if it's just some good special effects then I would give it a look. [Reply]

Me and my girl tried watching this one tonight and got about 35 minutes in before she asked to turn it off in favor of some Jim Gaffigan stand-up.
That bathroom scene was hilarious, though. Some good acting by Gosling there. He legitimately looked frazzled.
