I just reached out to my insurance agent about our cars. I just noticed my wife's insurance on her car is about $100 more for a half year then mine for the Mustang. Her car is worth about $6k at this point as it's a 2007 and has over 100k miles on it. My Mustang GT is sitting around $14k given it's shape and has 24k miles on it. Not sure why I would be paying less insurance? Also, he never asked when I got it about the car. Nothing about it being a GT, the modifications or the mileage.
I don't mind having to pay more to know it's covered like it should be. [Reply]

My wife has a 2009 MKX SUV. I pay $250 more per year for car insurance on a car valued at least $45K more. Makes no sense. [Reply]

My insurance agent personally called me about my questions. Said it's more expensive to insure a new VW bug than a new BMW. They take into account numerous things to come up with their numbers and the value of the car has little to do with it. It's cost of repairs, number of cars stolen of that make, age range of drivers for that car, etc. Also said my policy from the Mustang has been open since 1998 so my discount is large while my wife's policy has only been open since 2010 when she switched to my insurance with me. Said even with the modifications done to the car, the insurance won't go up. [Reply]
