Nzoner's Game Room>Chiefs sign Charles Omenihu
ShowtimeSBMVP 07:43 PM 03-14-2023

Breaking: FA DT Charles Omenihu is signing a two-year, $20M max deal with the #Chiefs, sources tell @theScore.

He's coming off his best season, tallying 16 quarterback hits and 28 initial pressures with #49ers. Omenihu's only 25 years old.

Taven Bryan would've been interesting, IMO. He's just always been steady but unspectacular.

I kinda feel like Chris Wormley would be my guy right now. He can do some of the inside/outside stuff that Spags likes. The ACL is just an awfully big question with him so he probably won't sign until the summer when teams can know a little more about his recovery. If you can have him at/near full speed by October, man he'd be a nice add and probably come fairly cheap.
Did Tillery end up somewhere? I missed that one.

Re-signed with the Raiders, I believe.

Wormley would be a nice upgrade over Nnadi.

Signing bonus is $7.5 million.

The Chiefs can get out of the contract if they want to after the first year. Cutting him in 2024 would only leave them with $3.75 million in dead cap. $2 million becomes guaranteed if he's on the roster on the 3rd day of the 2024 league year.

Seems like a one-year rental to see if he can be a full time edge.

If he is, bam, extension, and lower that $11m hit.

If he can't, you move on and likely start whomever you draft.

He can be a part time edge at those figures.

If he's taking 60% of the snaps and playing as well as we think he's going to play, the contract pays for itself.

Great value.

So what the hell are they thinking at DT? Any chance Williams and Shelton are in the plans? Almost looking like Nnadi can come back at league minimum again if they want him, he clearly has no market.

We're pretty bare but they must not be too concerned. I'd love to see Jones paired next to another stud for the first time in his career, though.

I'll keep saying it: Danny Shelton is going to have a monster year in 2023. He's going to come into camp looking like prime Pennel (well, except shorter, and a lot rounder around the middle), and he's going to wreck shit for the Chiefs. PFF told me so, and they're always right.

It’s gonna be fun to watch Spags move these guys around.

Jones, Karlaftis, Omenihu and Danna can all play inside or outside effectively.

Maybe even TW can.

I can’t wait to see who they draft, too.
