Nzoner's Game Room>Are we worried about our offense?
mr. tegu 07:15 PM 09-15-2024
Being only marginally better than last season? Worthy likely has a higher ceiling and more potential than Hardman but he is unlikely, at least for now, to be a 6-8 target a game guy as an option on the majority of passing plays. Rice is better than Rice last season so that's good. Kelce is probably worst though.

But mostly what I’m fearful about is that losing Brown is going to be a major impediment to the offense being noticeably better than last season. He was likely big in our schemes and philosophy. I know we typically struggle vs the Bengals but as of right now I'm not sure what would make me confident we dramatically improve over last season.

What does everyone think? How can we ensure the significant improvement over last season that it seems we might need?

Not worried in the least, its going to be awesome but maybe just less awesome... its more about disappointment that we didn't get the chance to see what this offense could've been with Hollywood and Pop integrated into the system on day 1

But you never really know, right?... maybe these setbacks can become golden opportunities

It's week 3. Not worried just yet. I do have concerns over our right and left tackles though.

Currently, I'd say these concerns are an over reaction. Young guys only had 2 games, lets give him a half season or so.

Right now, It’s really week one. I fully expected to see the offense struggle. Looks to me, that outside of the Saints kicking the shit outta the cowboys, offense is still in training camp mode. Defenses are just a little bit ahead I feel.

Just prepare for close games through the first month or month and half. Offense should open up a little as they get their legs under them. Yea, LT play was poor. But giving away the ball was way worse. In this early season situation, giving up chances to score is what loses a game.

This team knows how to win. They know how to win close games. And that’s a great thing to have in your pocket. But this season ain’t going to be walk in the park.

I've went back and watched the Cinci condensed version a few times.

It was really the turnovers that kept that thing close. We ran the ball really well and effectively. Defense didn't play very well, but tightened up when it needed to I guess.

Offense moved the ball fine. Once the turnovers hit, they went into a shell.

1/8 on 3rd down. Yeah not good. Gotta improve there

Silly as it sounds, just one little adjustment like using Worthy at all levels of the field I think could be enough to bust things open.

Gimme some of those out-up-comeback routes that Tyreek used to kill with.

Andy has a proven track record with that stuff. If Worthy isn't doing it, there's probably a reason.

For now maybe?

Rashee Rice wasn't anyone this time last year either. But at some point, yeah, we needed his skills.

And from afar, it seems like Worthy is a brighter kid. He already ran solid routes in college.

When it comes to young WR's and Andy Reid, you just gotta let him do his thing. He knows what he's doing.

I'm guessing the long-term loss of Brown kinda caught them off guard.

By all accounts (and from the one play we saw in the pre-season) Brown was going to be an all-level weapon for them. And I think they anticipated having him back by the Chargers game.

So they were focusing on Worthy getting comfortable in the role he'd have long term.

Welp - that's out the window.

So I figure we'll see Worthy get worked into the rest of the offense over the coming weeks. It's gonna take time, but they'll get there.

Completely agree.

I think Brown was going to lead the team in yards maybe. Not catches - that was always Rice's to have - but yards and YPC.

Nate Taylor said Tuesday that he still isn't sold on him being out the whole year and believes the December return is possible. That timing right before the playoffs could be the ultimate wrinkle.

Well sure, I'm not gonna be one overreacting on here anyways - they've more than earned the benefit of the doubt. Nothing matters until the 'yoffs.

But until they do start trusting a guy like Worthy, we're gonna continue to listen to BWillie and co. talk about how the offense stinks.

I think he'll be back in December as well.

Hell, I think we'll see Pacheco back in early November.

I'm not typically super confident with injuries but for some strange reason I expect us to get both these guys on the lower side of their projected injury timelines (though I guess there's been no formal timeline for Hollywood just yet).
