Was driving home from work not too long ago and seen a whole flock of them and was tempted to take a couple pops with my CC 9mm as the road I was on is usually barren. [Reply]
Any frame pack hunters out there? I'm looking to get one before hunting this fall. Generally packing deer out a few miles, some hills usually. Any recommendations? [Reply]
I’ll start by saying the 80 acres my dad owns is surrounded by public property on 3 sides and in this particular part of the world we don’t see many massive bucks due to natural diet and public pressure.
I’d been getting this stud on camera every day since I put out cameras in July. Same time, same food plot same routine. 1 hour before sunrise he’d come in eat and off to bed. I developed a plan because this guy would be waiting for me at my stand if I were to try and slip in. I set up a pop up blind two weeks before season in a spot where two trails to two likely bedding areas merged. It was the perfect plan, until, a public land hunter shot him 300 yards from my tree stand and 25 feet from the fence line October 2nd before I even got to sit in the woods.
Hopefully it’s going better for the rest of you! [Reply]
Know that feeling. Have 40 acres with my house in the middle of it, highway to the west of property land on that side is hunted. Large bean field to the north of me, that is being hunted. Neighbors to the west of me is being hunted. South of me someone put up a new house and his grandpa hunts the meadow. See occasionally a nice buck moving through but less and less anymore. Not sure if I even want to buy a tag this year or not...If I could just win the lottery and buy me a few sections.... [Reply]

I can relate. Were surrounded by public on 3 sides thats hunted hard, then two nieghbors across the road that shoot "big bucks" every year that usually are basket rack 8s. then we share a powerline with an old lady whos grand kids try to tag out during rifle on 20 acres every year. Its rough being patient and waiting for mature bucks. The one that i was after honestly could have used another year or two he looked very young too me.
I haven't shot my bow in a year. I'm too busy with other things. Between that and all the dumbass "staff" hunters around I don't even really care. I used to plan my year around bow hunting and now I don't know if I'd have a single weekend that I could. [Reply]
Unrelated to my pity party. I picked up a crossbow from a guy i know who was in a pinch. Got it set up for the wife, she never got comfortable enough with her compound to hunt with it. So maybe some more meat in the freezer. [Reply]
