He was a TD machine. He was good for nearly 700 receiving yards during his prime years. He had more career carries than Terrell Davis and yet fumbled the ball less.
Priest Holmes had one of the best offensive lines in NFL history. He sucks./NewWorldOrder

Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Reuben Droughns, Tatum Bell. Those guys are akin to a bag of smashed assholes and yet they were all 1,000 yard backs.
Oh, so you're pointing to the 4 games to start 1999 adjusting to life after Elway... got it.

I see Denver fans are ignoring my much too fantastic post.

Does it not?

1998- Terrelle Davis- 397 carries 2008 yds 5.1 ypc

2000- Mike Anderson- 297 carries 1487 yards 5.0 ypc

2002- Clinton Portis 273 carries 1508 5.5 ypc

And there were a few other 1000 yard backs who weren't good that did well under Shanahan.

They also weren't playing with an elite qb like Elway. It's the system not the back for the 100th time.

There you go dopey.
Missed this... too bad they didn't do the math, they could have just churned out a few 2,000 yard rushers and taken a lot of heat off guys like Griese and Plummer. Davis was just a fluke, guess you win.

If they have more carries like Davis they are 2k rushers.

I mean for god's sake Tatum Bell looked like a pro bowl caliber rb in that system. TATUM FUCKING BELL.

Oh, and they didn't have John ****ing elway btw.

That's the beauty of all these debates... you can honestly support any argument with stats and historical perspective.

TD's HOF bid would have to hinge on his playoff performances, not his regular season stats. Basically, he was the best playoff RB in NFL history.

Funny how this turned into a HOF discussion. I'm fine either way with the HOF, it's been watered down a bit and in the next 15 years, you're going to see so many "numbers" guys get in that it will be a joke.

The HOF should be for those extra special and sensational players that were far and away the best in the game. Steve Smith, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne - HOF'ers?

I'm kinda meh on these guys.

Reggie Wayne is a definite no to the HOF for me. I made a pretty compelling, IMO, argument against him in a thread somewhere a while back.

There was a solid stretch of a few years in which Andre Johnson was considered a top 3, at worst, WR.

Steve Smith is feisty as shit. He may get in for the little guy long shot vote.

I wouldn't be mad if either of those two got in.
