The offensive line needs to be reminded that they need to sustain their blocks, and keep the defender engaged, when a screen pass is coming to their side of the field.

It's a hard line to walk though.
For instance, the screen that Suggs batted down early in the game is Fisher's fault at first blush for not getting into Suggs body. However, the OL also can't just sell-out on the screen pass or they'll give it away - they have to give that an appearance of being a regular pass play.
On that play, Fisher did a pretty basic kick slide and got over into a basic protection, full anticipating Suggs to be coming. The problem was that Suggs didn't get upfield at all. He started from a wider stance and looked like he was going to try loop around Fisher. That or he just smelled screen from the start and killed it.
That was the only screen yesterday that I could really recall being wrecked by a DL and it wasn't really Fisher's fault. There wasn't much he could've done differently. [Reply]

I was busy having a stroke. Like you (and everyone else that has watched this kid), I was absolutely certain that game was about to be done. Their D was tired, the scramble drill was in the making and this was a clear TD.
Then that ball squirted out and I proceeded to shit myself.
On the replay it sure seemed like he had a ton of room to run had he not dropped the ball. [Reply]

Plus there were a couple of those where the defenders landed with their full body weight on him. Hell one play he had 2 guys full body weight on him. I thought the league was putting an emphasis on calling that shit? I guess not with our QB... [Reply]
