It's nice that you realized it was a pre-64 as opposed to a pretty oe. Dang autocorrect it is a fantastic gun and hasn't had the sights changed since 1984. Every year I take it and send 3 rounds through it wondering if this is the year but no. Its a tack driver. Nice gun with just enough history marks to show it is loved.

Got a buck on Saturday morning. He was chasing a doe, they were behind me...I heard him grunt at her and turned in my chair...he gave me a perfect broadside...boom...probably about 30 yards or so.

First deer I've gotten in about 4 years. I wussed out and brought it to a processor...I'm getting lazy in my old age.

Meh, I only make my son do it so he learns the value of butchering an animal. Soon enough, and if we end up going the route where we don't have a deer processing center right there where we take the deer, it'll be off to a processor...

son shot a nice buck saturday morning behind the house. 8 points on one side, the other broken off.

he and the grandson were out in the shed working it up when his friend that lives about 12 miles from here called up and told us that as he was sitting in his stand, a mdc agent walked up and wrote him a ticket for baiting. i guess his neighbor turned him in. says it's gonna cost him $600.

The guy who turned him in is probably a "deer pro" that hunts over standing crops, bait blocks right on the neighbors fence. ass pipes.

I picked up a .350 Legend and am going to try to put my kids on some brown cows later in the year. Supposedly CWD is around and they're wanting locals to get extra tags to terminate some rona deer.

Thought that was cool. Saved him about 200 yards of walking.

I'm new to this. Does taking it to the processor mean you didn't field dress it?

Son and grandson got another doe back behind the house this afternoon.
By time I picked up a 6 pack and got home, they had it skinned and in the back of their truck. They’ll work it up at home tomorrow.
Got a eye doctor apt wed. They’re coming down after I get back from that. Off the rest of the week. Rifles Blasting! Fur flying! Maybe some new glasses :-)

No, field dressing is all you do. You usually just pack it with ice after you field dress it and drop the whole deal off at the processor.

The niece shot a buck with her little brother's new legend yesterday. It really tore the top of the heart up at 65 yards. Seems like a fun little short range round.

The younger son is enjoying this season's deer camp out at the far. They had to drag three of these deer up a hill out of a creek bed, but where there's a will there's a way. I mean there's a 4x4 four wheeler and a tow rope. :-).

I put this in the Win thread

A rare albino whitetail deer buck has been spotted and photographed in northern Wisconsin.

Calling it “an incredible sight,” the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office posted the photo, taken by Tracy Weese, on its Facebook page this week. Weese photographed the deer in her backyard in the unincorporated town of Boulder Junction.

Albino and all-white deer are protected and cannot be hunted in Wisconsin, but piebald deer, which are white with brown spots, are legal to take. (In Minnesota, it is legal to shoot an albino deer, but not an albino bear.)

Weese, who called the deer “his majesty” in talking to local media about it, said the dark spot on the buck’s head appears to be dirt and blood from his having rubbed the velvet off his antlers, not pigment. The buck has pink ears and a pink nose.

I’m not that old (31) but when the local Amish will debone for 45$ it’s hard to go through the trouble. They don’t care if it’s field dressed or not.

That 3rd from the left looks kind of goatish but whatever gets one through the winter.

On a side note; I once heard a story of newbie hunter that shot a llama and tagged it as a white tail only to proceed to proudly show off to PA game wardens to turn a boo boo into a "aw, shit' situation. Just to put that in perspective, llamas aren't native to PA and only kept on private farms.
