What if you like all of the top 4 QB's? What if you're fairly confident at least one of them will be there at #5? Why give up two #1's and two #2's if you don't have to?

Keenum is insurance, he takes away a lot of the anxiety on draft day and you're not doomed if the worst case scenario happens.

Silva thinks Sashi Brown is a genius even though he passed on Wentz and Watson in back-to-back years.

There's only around a dozen elite QBs in the league at any given time. Highly unlikely that there's 4 in this class. If your draft strategy is take the 3rd or 4th best QB off the board, you're going to have a bad time.

It was a shitty plan then bc no matter what you’re paying either paying Keenum $21 million to sit the bench for a rookie in 2019 or you’re cutting him leaving a $10 million dead cap from gaurantees which will severely hurt your cap status.

Drafting a young QB hurts the entire idea of using cheap QB to surround your team with talent. You’re wasting half of the contract bc of Keenum.

Who says the top two QB's drafted are going to be the best QB's?

Josh Allen is my 4th favorite QB in this class and if he hits he's going to be better than all of them. A lot of people feel Rosen is the best QB in this class, but I'd rather have Mayfield.

Your own words, they may like all 4 QBs. That's a pretty useless evaluation of talent.

If you’re willing to take the 4th QB on YOUR board at 5 and miss out on your top 3 that’s not too bright.

According to OTC, if Denver trades Keenum in 2019 they'll only have $3M worth of dead money and it would save them $18M in cap space. If they cut him they'd have $10M in dead money and free up $11M.

Either way, if the rookie shows he's ready in year two I'd have no problem cutting Keenum if it came down to it and eating his dead money.

Even Zierlein has similar grades on the last three QB's:

This isn't your typical QB class, there are four QB's with franchise QB upside. Besides, I'm sure Elway has a good idea how the QB's will fall.

There's a chance he could be Brock Osweiler 2.0, but there's also a chance that he's just hitting his stride. Brock only started 7 games before he went to Houston, Keenum has started 38.
Keep in mind, the Texans traded for Brock after seeing Keenum play for them. Now you guys are expecting to use Keenum as a better alternative to Brock because he sucks so bad! :-)

They didn't trade for Brock... they signed him without meeting with him, then traded him to CLE.

Denver will do something in the draft to patch this up.

I have already got on record in this thread (feel free to scroll back) that IF the Donkos get Barkley, then the narrative changes a bit and the offense has the opportunity to be successful with Keesum right from the get go.

Will just need to patch up that O-Line a bit . . . .

P.S. anyone who tries to argue with a straight face that Denver’s O-Line and Minny’s O-Line (PFF, be damned) are basically equal cannot be taken seriously. Sorry.
