Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

I was just looking through BA reviews for some reason, and I came across this review of Tank 7. I'm not a BA regular, but I'm curious if people are starting to troll the reviews or something?

So I was thinking what anyone would think... This must be GREAT BEER!!! That assumption was wrong. TBH I flat out didn't like this beer, which almost NEVER happens...First of all its way overpriced, it doesn't go down smooth, it doesn't taste good, it doesn't smell good, and it barely even tastes like beer!.. I think the brewers were already drunk when they made this brew because its nothing like the other boulevard brews which are Great! It reminded me of beer made out of hay or straw that someone spiked with some vodka... literally. The only reason I think it says farmhouse ale is because it tastes like a cow brewed it. As a die-hard boulevard fan I am somewhat upset with this brew, especially at 11.99 a 4 PACK kind of feeling ripped off.. I'm surprised boulevard even releases this, and even more surprised with it's high ratings here?? Maybe this beer just wasn't for me but I couldn't find one quality about the beer I liked except for the label!.. If you like to spike your beers with hay and vodka this beers for you!!!

Umm... not familiar with the style, I take it? Haha.

Drinking a Mother's MILF tonight. I don't think I like the Imperial Stout like I once did. The wang of the alcohol is sort of distracting or overpowering to me.

I think I might have served it too cold. Am going to let second one rest outside fridge for a while.

I read that review a few nights ago when I tried Tank 7 for the first time. It made me laugh.

Yes, let it warm. It should be much better that way.

I try to avoid drinking any high ABV Imperial Stouts too cold. Typically they are very bitter on my palate until they heat up a bit.

I think that's an honest review. It's just an honest review from someone who has no business reviewing farmhouse ales.

How can anyone not enjoy Tank 7 the first time they try it?

I'd never tried a Smokestack or that particular style of beer in my life; and loved it almost instantly. It has almost everything I want in a beer.

My mom didn't like it, but her favorite "beer" is Corona Light.

There's a sweet spot for me... I'll let it air some, but sometimes I'll let it sit for too long and the last few drinks have that harsh alcohol/boozy-ness to it, I assume since it's too warm.

Pretty cool Firestone Walker tap takeover last night at whole foods. Jeffers Richardson (the Barrelworks brewmaster) was there as well. Talked with him a while and enjoyed an Agrestic, Anniversary XVII, Parabola and a tasting of Sucaba. Solid night!

So jealous. FW is one of my favorite breweries, and Sucaba is fucking amazing. Parabola isn't far behind.

I'd kill to get FW distribution in MN...

But how do you feel about Sucaba? I'm assuming you meant Parabola is amazing, and you'd be right.

Oh, ha. Sucaba is actually my favorite of the two, meaning Parabola isn't far behind. :-) I'm a huge fan of both...

Interesting. I've tried to develop a taste for barleywines, and while I don't mind them, it's certainly not a style that excites me.

FWIW, Wookey Jack is my favorite Firestone Walker offering, though Parabola is a close second. I think that is only because I've had a number of great RISs, but the Wookey stands head and shoulders above any other black ale/black ipa I've had. Admittedly, it's not a hugely popular style.
