Got my wife to come and take a video of the Mustang starting (I had to beat her) so you can hear the sound. Not as cool as most of the cars in this thread but people are always commenting on how they love this car's deep rumble. Not the greatest sound quality on a cell phone but you get the idea.

Definitely could be better. I know those cams are pretty mild but they're good enough for me and I'm sure as shit not putting more money into this car. Is that long lope sound on some cars caused by decreasing the RPMs on idle or just bigger cams? This car idles right at 500 RPMs.
Also, this was a fairly cold run when I just started it. It gets a bit longer idle when she's been running a bit. [Reply]

The lope sound is determined by the valve overlap for a given cam.
Lope isnt always good, some motors dont need the valves open at the same time, some do, there are tradeoffs everywhere in cam selection~ So dont take me to heart im njust BSin
my car idles at 990 rpms and lopes like a sonofabitch.. but thats because I have 16 degrees of overlap. previous cam had -1 degree and hated how it sounded, but it still produced good power. [Reply]

Damn man you should have said something. You with one of those South Florida car clubs that were there?
Nah, I never been to this show before. I figured it was too high end for my car. Should have registered. Talk to a judge. Said my car would have probably won its class.

My dad came over to help me on a couple of projects today. One of them being to get started on the 66 to see what needs done to get it going...a new battery and it spun over, but the fire was weak. I'll get a lesson in changing points soon.
I wish I was a better mechanic. I could fix more things at 22 than I can now just because it's been a long time since I did much wrenching...career change, electronic everything so I backed way off....now I'm back to trying to learn how to fix more of my old stuff. It'll be fu. To make this one go with the old man. [Reply]
