I would be inclined, in this very specific scenario, to rest the starters for the Texans game
You rest AFTER you clinch, not before. :-)

I think there will be plenty of fans and former players who WANT to see the Chiefs threepeat.

The only chance the Bills have in that game is to win a high-scoring shootout. Which means Allen has to go nuclear for an entire game and not make any mistakes at all.

The Bills just match up absolutely horribly with the Lions on defense.

The Lions do everything the Rams do/can do in putting up 44 on the Bills’ D, except better.

Better OL. Better running game. Passing game that absolutely dissects zone defense. Better overall offense despite being a step back at QB.

The Bills are going to have to blitz to get pressure, and even then, their back end isn’t strong enough to see that holding up well.

Gibbs on screens. St. Brown on hot routes, making one guy miss. LaPorta doing his thing. Jameson Williams on deep routes.

I mean, there are a LOT of answers for the Lions against pressure.

And they’re so damn good running the football I think Buffalo is always playing from the wrong foot.
You make some really great points.

I'd take Josh Allen over Jared Goff in a shootout any day.

I think the Lions have been riding their luck the last few games. Their 11 game win streak has to come to an end at some point and I think this is the week that they're going to be brought back down to earth. They're going to be playing a pissed off Bills team.

Rams won that game because they were near flawless on offence. It was an extraordinary performance. That is what it takes to beat this current in form Bills team. I don't think the Lions are going to be near flawless.

If the Chiefs win the next two, Steelers lose to Eagles, and Bills lose to Lions, I see it playing out as follows:

1) Chiefs rest starters on Christmas. Christmas Day game is an abject ratings disaster. (ChiefsPlanet laughs).
2) Steelers win out, Bills win out. Steelers are 2 seed. (ChiefsPlanet laughs)
3) Broncos end up as 7, and the Ravens end up as the 6. Chargers are 5. Texans are 4.
4) Lead up to playoffs is all about the “tough road” the Bills face (Ravens-@Steelers-@Chiefs). Comparisons to KC’s gauntlet last year as the 3 seed abound. People get high on predictions the Bills will make the same run.
5) Ravens destroy them again in the wild card round. And just like that, the Bills … is over. (ChiefsPlanet laughs, NFL tears).

Divisional round is then (6) Ravens @ (1) Chiefs. Chiefs show they did not, in fact, play their best game against Baltimore Week 1. (ChiefsPlanet basks in the happiness of this).

(5) Chargers @ (2) Steelers. Steelers win a physical game

Leaving us with the Arrowhead Invitational America doesn’t know it needs, but the one it deserves: (2) Steelers @ (1) Chiefs. (ChiefsPlanet laughs).

Chiefs win and get to face America’s darling, the Lions, in the Super Bowl. They break America’s heart again, defeat the darlings, and complete the 3-peat. ChiefsPlanet spends the entire offseason doing a collective impersonation of Nick Wright. Hilarity (and ChiefsPlanet laughter) ensues.
Given those match ups, I can totally see the logic on the AFC side... no idea if the Steelers are AFCCG material at all, but it's not like the Chargers are exactly there yet either..... and my one hope most of the season has been one of the AFCN teams knocking off the Bills (granted, in the Divisional round, so that woild be even more hilarious).

I'm personally not that confident in the Lions, between Goff being Goff and Campbell inevitably doing something reeruned at the worst possible time... they basically need to hope they can just out-skill everyone so he doesn't get that chance (or they can overcome a 3 interception game).

However, if they avoid the Eagles, who knows... they managed to make it to the NFCCG last season before playing anyone after week 1.

Hopefully Bills/Lions and Eagles/Steelers show us something across all 4.

I'm sticking with they lose in the wild card or the divisional round. :-)

They're not getting to KC.

The upcoming schedule is interesting if KC nabs HFA...They will have played all 4 of their potential divisional round opponents in the final 5 weeks...(Chargers, Doinks, Texans, Steelers) assuming Ravens win the north.

How much do you show from a strategy perspective? Those teams are going to still be playing for something...they cant afford to be conservative. KC can be close to the vest.

Their tears in 2022 when they DIDN'T get to play us I think were the sweetest.

It's one thing to know you're inferior to another team.

It's another thing entirely to THINK you're superior but you never get a chance to prove it. :-):-):-)

AND to feel like you should never have been playing the game you lost because the team you THOUGHT you were superior to somehow screwed you out of a higher seed because your safety died and came back to life. :-):-):-):-):-)

I was about to ask if we could clinch the one seed this week. I forgot about the Steelers. Looks like the Steelers game will be the one... maybe.

The Chiefs can clinch the one seed if the Lions beat Buffalo, the Steelers lose to Philadelphia or Balitmore, and the Chiefs win their next two games.

There is a strong chance Pittsburgh is irrelevant for seeding.

If the Steelers get the #1 seed, they’ll have earned it by beating a lot of good teams including us. I don’t think they’ll do it, but the longer the season has gone on, the more legit they look.

The Lions/Bills and us/Browns are the key games. If we get good results in both games, our chances of the #1 are VERY high as we just have to win 1 of the last 3 games.

The Bills got demolished by Baltimore and then came out like shit against Houston.

Buffalo does not have a problem with effort during the regular season.

Because deep down they are a poverty franchise that celebrates meaningless accomplishments.

Baltimore and Philly are going to pull Russel's dick through his butthole.
