It doesn't matter what race any of the actors are that playing these characters.
There have been countless examples of actors who did not match the source material. Short actors playing the role of someone who was supposed to be tall, brunettes playing characters who were supposed to be redheads, British actors playing Middle Eastern Biblical figures, etc.
Yet you draw the line at black people cast as elves. Wonder why.. [Reply]

Oh please, lets not pretend the discussion of people playing roles designed to be a different race than their own started with Amazon's LOTR series. And yes there are countless examples of people playing roles that differ from their physical appearance etc. People also used to have white actors wear blackface. Now when someone plays a role even slightly outside their real life situation they are criticized for it.
Here's an example (there are many more) of someone claiming it's "ableist" (:-)) for a non disabled person to play someone disabled. This article was written in 2014, so let's not pretend no one cared about this stuff until they cast a black elf. [Reply]
