Ray had 8 sacks in 2016 and he was a backup.

He was hardly a backup. He had 666 snaps, good for almost 60%. Not really that far off from Ford. About 100 or so. And like RunKC said, he had Miller on the other side, while Ford had Zombo most of the time.

But that’s not what I said. What great OT’s did Ray beat to make his 2016 season so much more impressive?

He started 8 games that year. Out of those 8 starts....he got 5 of his 8 sacks.
