Nzoner's Game Room>Space Exploration megathread
DaFace 09:40 AM 06-01-2014
Since a number of cool things are happening in space exploration these days, we'll widen the scope of this thread a smidge. Conversation about all things space exploration are welcome, whether it be from NASA, SpaceX, ULA, Blue Origin, or anyone else. Chances are most of the discussion will still be about SpaceX since they love to make things public and fun, but nothing's off limits. I'll eventually get around to modifying the OP to include resources for other companies too, but in the meantime, feel free to post any cool stuff you run across.

People just have to remember that sometimes malfunctions do happen. As long as they study and correct there's no reason to stop going forward.

It's what tests are for.

Overall, SpaceX testing has gone well. Always leads to success.

I hope they can determine the root cause. It seems difficult when all of the evidence has been exploded.

While true, they have a ton of sensors on everything and probably even more given that it was a test. I bet they'll be able to trace it down.

It still amazes me how much they can learn from plane wrecks and situations where practically everything is destroyed from fire or explosion or impact.

I would assume their sampling rate would be absurdly high, so hopefully they have data from between the malfunction and explosion. Elon's uncharacteristic silence is worrying me.

I wouldn't say I'm worried per se, but it is odd that he hasn't said a word about it.

In happier news, there's a launch to the ISS early tomorrow morning (3:12 am Eastern) if anyone cares enough to get up for it.

The only thing I dislike more than IR cameras are blue LEDs.
