I'd rather the Browns sign Cousins and trade some picks and move up for Darnold.
I hate to say it but I kinda hope Denver drafts Mayfield. It will be a fun AFCW with 3 young quality QB's . And the Chargers are going to be competitive next year too. [Reply]

The Mayfield vs Mahomes rivalry would be a fun one if Mahomes works out. [Reply]

It's not my money... I don't live near there, so I don't pay ticket prices. Pay him whatever the market demands. It's all about having stellar and consistent play at the QB position.
There are currently 15 NFL QBs averaging more than $20M per year. So, if you want one and you want one that has averaged 4300 yards, 26 TDs and 12 INTs the last 3 years, then pay him.
Cousins will be 30 this year, entering his 7th season and has been on a nice consistent pace of production at a high level.

I'm only worried about paying him too much and missing out on a stud QB in the draft.
But adding Kirk on a reasonable deal means that we might be able to land Saquon Barkley or Quenton Nelson. Or maybe even trade down and get an extra first next year.
Getting Cousins isn't the end of the world unless we pay him $30M per year. [Reply]

People like you that respond like this are hilarious.
The reason he is asking is because of the salary cap. Paying a guy like Kirk Cousins that much out of your cap really puts the pressure on Elway’s drafting which has inspired no confidence over the past few years Not to mention your ability to win anything of significance now will be neutralized by losing guys like Talib and Sanders. Interesting that Brandt doesn't think Cousins is going to get as much as everyone thinks. Says that teams like Denver, Jets, and Browns would rather draft a QB than give Cousins $20 million per year.
What does this say about Mayfield and Allen? Elway and his staff had the chance to work with them both closely for a week and at the end of the day they decided that possibly tampering with Cousins was the better alternative to drafting either one. [Reply]

It says they still think they have a competitive roster and would prefer to make another run.
I think the AFC belongs to Brady and Ben and they should start gearing up for a run two or three years from now. [Reply]
