Probably more like $35m for 6 years, so $210m total. Rodgers set the market at $33m right now, but we will probably see a bunch of unworthy QB's get paid similar money due to the salary cap increases.

Mahomes would be smart to ask for something like 17% of the salary cap. That would protect him from what happened to Rodgers when he signed his deal at $22m years ago.

I'm not sure he'll break the Chiefs' bank.

He's smart. His family is smart. His agent is smart. Mahomes is far better off going the Tommy Two Yards route, rather than the Rodgers approach. He knows he needs weapons in order to sustain success and if we can't pay for skill players or defense, it will only lead to frustration. He also understands the value of Wally in this situation. The media made this a story today, but I don't think most of those guys comprehend the Chiefs culture. We're not the Stoolers and Mahomes isn't Rodgers.
